Juliet's POV:

I woke up the next morning and shook Colby. "Can we go to the warehouse?"

He groaned softly. "Babe, it's dangerous."

"But you'll protect me. Please can we go to the warehouse?"

"Fine."

My lower stomach started to cramp lightly and I looked at Colby in a panic.

"What, Jules?"

"Cramps."

"That's normal, right?"

"No! It isn't! Colby, I can't lose her. Not again."

Instantly, he pulled me into his arms. "Juliet, listen to me. Ellen is strong. Just like her mother."

"Can we at least check to see if she's okay?"

"Of course we can, baby."

Koki and Foxi came up to greet us and I cowered behind Colby. I hated that I was so scared of dogs. As much as I tried to tolerate them, I just couldn't.

Colby brushed my hair back. "What are other symptoms of a miscarriage?"

"Um, bleeding, weight loss, back pain, fever, amongst other things."

"Are you feeling any of those symptoms?"

"Well, no."

"We'll take that as a good sign. Get ready, okay? I'll book the appointment."

I got dressed and as I did so, whispered, "Please be okay, Ellen. God, please let her be okay."

We made our way to a fertility clinic and checked in.

I bounced my leg up and down nervously and Colby took my hand.

We were called in and Colby said, "We just want to make sure our baby's okay. My wife and I lost our first baby and we can't lose this one."

The gynecologist smiled. "We'll just do an ultrasound, make sure your little one is okay."

She put the jelly on my stomach and moved the transducer around. "Baby looks healthy. Rest assured Mom and Dad."

Colby squeezed my hand. "See? She's okay. Just like I told you, strong just like her mother."

I frowned. "But what about cramping?"

"Are they mild or severe with bleeding?" the gynecologist asked.

"Uh, mild, no blood."

"That's perfectly normal. But if you witness a change, call your doctor."

"I will. Thank you."

Our appointment finished up and we got food, per my request, and made our way to the warehouse.

We entered and I started walking around and exploring.

Colby ran up next to me and took my hand. "Be careful, okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, no duh."

"Don't sass me missy."

"I will sass you. Can we go up to the roof?"

"Sure. Come on."

He took my hand and led me up to the roof. I stumbled slightly and he steadied me. "Jules! Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go!"

He laughed and we walked to a safe spot to sit and I laid down, enjoying the clouds in the sky.
