Colby's POV:

Jules and I were making our way back to our airbnb after getting dinner with Brennen. We'd be leaving LA soon and I'd be going with Sam to do new things for our channel. 25x25 we were calling it. Jules would likely participate for some, but obviously not for all due to the baby.

My wife glanced at me with a smirk and started playing something through my aux.

I frowned. "What is this?"

She held up a finger and another song soon started. "Now do you know?"

"Panic!, right?"

"Yup. The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage. Been 15 years next year since Fever was released."

"15 years? Wow. Way to make me feel old. I hope you weren't listening to this when you were five."

She scoffed. "No, definitely not. Discovered it later."

Her eyes focused on the road and she squinted. "Hey, be careful. That guy's behaving weirdly."

As soon as the words left her mouth, the car slammed into us head on.

I groaned and checked myself over quickly before turning to Jules.

"Jules?" She didn't answer. "Juliet?!"

I turned on my phone flashlight and saw a small trickle of blood from her head, but she was unconscious.

I shook her, but she didn't stir.

A voice outside said, "Sir, can you hear me?"

"Uh, yeah. I'm okay, I think, but my wife isn't. She's pregnant. You have to make sure she's okay."

"We need to make sure you're okay."

"Check her first!" I didn't care how injured I might be. All that mattered was that Jules and Ellen were okay.

The paramedic spoke to his partner and Jules was looked over.

"Well?" I demanded. "How is she?"

"We're worried your wife has suffered some internal bleeding and due to her pregnancy, we want to get that checked out as soon as possible."

I grabbed Juliet's hand. "Hang in there, Jules. You're strong. You have to make it."

We soon got to the hospital and due to the stupid pandemic, I couldn't go to ICU with her.

I did the only thing that felt right and called my best friend.

Luckily, he answered. "Hello?"

"Sam, I-I can't lose her."

"What happened? What do you mean you can't lose her?"

"We were in an accident. I'm okay, but Jules and Ellen -- I just don't know. Sam -- I-"

"I know. Colby, she's strong. She'll pull through. Juliet and Ellen will both be okay."

"How do you know?"

"Because I have to believe they will be, okay? You just hope she will. Keep me updated, okay?"

He hung up and I waited impatiently for news on my wife and daughter. I decided to play music and as though the universe was laughing at me, the first song that played from Juliet's playlist, which I sometimes listened to, was Neon Gravestones, then Goner.

The doctor entered the waiting room and I immediately stood and asked, "How are my wife and daughter?"

"We're not sure why your wife hasn't woken up, but as far as we can tell, there are no internal injuries. Your daughter is fine," the doctor replied.

"All good, but when will she wake up?"

"We're not sure. We're going to continue to monitor your wife and baby to make sure nothing changes."

"Can I see her?"

"Sorry, no. Due to COVID restrictions, we can't allow anyone to visit patients in the ICU unit."

"Do you realize how fucking stupid that is?! All I want to do is see my damn wife!"

"I know, and I'm sorry. I wish it didn't have to be this way." He walked away and I fell back in my chair.

Please let her and our daughter be okay.
