The boys had all recorded videos welcoming the viewers to the Trap House. I'd posted some Instagram and Snapchat videos. I'd probably do a house tour later, when the inside was neater.
For now, my designated film room was nice and neat. And more importantly, untouched by germy boy hands. Mostly.
A band I liked had released a new album, which resulted in an album reaction.
I set up my camera and started recording. "Hello world of YouTube. So, as you all know, we moved into a new house in Hawaii. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do much due to the quarantine. Stay safe and don't go outside unless you absolutely need to. I promise there's a house tour coming soon. If you follow us on TikTok, you've seen a bit of the house. You'll also know how messy it is from the videos."
I pulled up the album on my Spotify. "All Time Low has released a new album, and a lot of you guys have asked me to react, so I'll deliver. The first song is called Some Kind of Disaster. Well, if that doesn't describe people, I don't know what does. And there's a music video, so we'll watch that. Here goes."
I played the song and bopped my head to the beat. "Alex Gaskarth getting real. You gotta hurt sometimes to learn to heal? That's speaking truth right there. You guys know I was hurting for a long time after my mom died. I'm still hurting, but I'm healing more and more everyday." The song finished. "That might be one of my top, no, it is one of my top All Time Low songs. Dang. What a way to start an album. Song two is called Sleeping In. There's a music video for this too, as there is for the third song."
I played the music video for the second song. "Breakups maybe? That's something I personally don't know about but I understand they suck. Although, the lyrics seem to say otherwise. Cats! Ooh, that grey kitten is adorable! The hairless cat, not so much. I'm sorry, if you like invisible-furred cats, good for you, but I prefer cats with visible fur. Dogs, fish and little horses. Aw, the Animal League. Protect the animals. Good job, ATL. Song three is called Getaway Green and like I said, there's a music video for this as well."
The third song played and I shrugged lightly. "Not one of my favorites, but it's got a good beat. I do like the line though, getaway green in a world of black and white. I honestly feel a little like that with Colby. It's nice to escape reality with him for a little while."
I switched back to Spotify. "All right, so, since that's the end of the music videos, I'm switching back to Spotify Song four is called Melancholy Kaleidoscope. I always spell that word wrong, despite being a pretty good speller. Kaleidoscope that is. Here goes."
I started the fourth song and instantly bopped to the beat. "Wow. This hooks you in real quick. You can't be 100 if you're only giving 95? Truth. Mmm. Tuning out the bad thoughts. I'm constantly doing that. Even to this day. I really like this song. So far my second favorite on the album."
I took a quick sip of my tea. "Sorry, guys. Tea break. Irish Breakfast with a spoonful of sugar, in case you're curious. Don't go spamming that Mary Poppins song in my comments, guys. Please. Song five is called Trouble Is. Well, trouble is four guys. Kidding, roommates!" I began the song. "Ooh, sounds a little like a breakup type song. Yeah, I'd call it a breakup song. It should be sad, but the beat makes it sound more happy. That's something pop punk is really good at and one of the things I really like; putting a sad message over a rocking beat. End of the song. I liked that one. And it's shy two-and-a-half minutes. Short and boppy; I guess that's the right word?"
I glanced at the tracklist. "Okay. Song six is the title track; Wake Up, Sunshine. Hmm. Aggressive. Wake up, sunshine, somebody loves you for yourself. Someone needed to hear that. Thanks, Alex. Guys, if you're feeling unloved or whatever else it may be, just know that I'm here for you and that I love you. I liked that one."
