Colby's POV:

The next afternoon, Jules and I met Brennen for lunch.

Jules was insistent on getting coffee beforehand. She refused to do anything without it. We stopped by a Dunkin' so she could get her coffee and met up with Brennen.

Brennen pretended he could hear us in the distance before we got in the car. The first thing he said was, "Spill the tea, dude. I think I speak for everyone when I ask if you and Juliet are dating."

I shook my head. "No, we're not. We're just good friends."

"You heard it here, folks. Colby Brock and Juliet Griffin are just friends. Juliet, can you please stop glaring at me? You're kind of scaring me."

"How else am I supposed to drink my coffee?" She huffed.

"Without glaring at me. I could turn this car around right now."

"I'd like to see you try."

I shook my head. "Please no, Jules."

As we stepped out of the car, Brennen asked, "How bad could that have gone?"

"Pretty bad. Jules is up for anything, and she's relentless. When she wants something, she's gonna get it."

Brennen studied her and said, "You must be a Slytherin."

Jules gushed before smirking. "Proud to be cunning and ambitious."

"Don't Slytherins and Gryffindors not get along?"

"They do, but there's a lot of trying to one up the other, among other things."

"Other things?" Brennen asked, raising his eyebrows.

Jules nodded. "Yeah. Other things. What's so weird about that?"

"Just the way you said that. It can be interpreted numerous ways. Numerous sexual ways."

Her cheeks instantly turned red and she laughed awkwardly. "I meant like arguing and such. Oh, jeez."

I started laughing and Brennen started teasing her. Jules shook her head and cried, "Stop!"

She didn't really sound annoyed; she sounded more embarrassed and then said, "Honestly, I could go for a grinder. That sounds really good right now. Before you ask, a grinder is what you call a sandwich. Sandwich. That's a boring. Grinder sounds so much more fun."

"Yeah, it does. I think I'm gonna go for nuggets." I said.

Jules rolled her eyes. "Of course you are. You love your nuggets. And your ketchup."

"I love my ketchup. And my nuggets."

"I know you do. We're here. Can we stop talking and get food, please?"

"That sounds like a wonderful suggestion."

Jules skipped inside, following Brennen. I laughed silently to myself. I wanted to ask her out so bad. This girl was already everything to me, and I barely knew her.

My phone dinged, and I saw a text from Shea asking if Adventure Buddies was still happening tonight, and I told her it was. She texted that I could bring Jules, as she wanted to meet her.

I walked inside and said to Jules, "Would you like to do some exploration tonight?"

She cocked her head. "What sort of exploration? With who?"

"Exploring a building. Me and Shea. She wants to meet you."

"Um, okay. I'll trust you to look out for me."
