" I think the painkillers have done their work, you can leave."

Kyoko looked up at Anele as she put her shoe back on and felt sad that she had not seen her smile since she walked in but then again what was there to smile about. Kyoko knew that she would not get a warm reception but she had thought she could handle it and she would eventually make her understand. She recalled how prior to the incident she would smile upon seeing her, her face would glow and she could not stop smiling. Everyone could tell that Anele was head over heels for her but she forgot all about her on that fateful day.

" You're really going to kick me out after you almost broke my foot?"

" You did that on your own and you can ask your driver to drive you to the nearest hospital if you feel you need medical attention."

" Nelly-"

" My name is Anele, not Nelly. Only people dead to me call me that. Now I'm asking you for the last time please leave my apartment."

Kyoko closed her eyes for a second trying to relieve the pain caused by the sharpness of her words. It was not like she expected her to welcome her with open arms but she hoped that she would at least let her talk. That after so many years she would not be angry even though she did kick her out back then and ended a two year long relationship because of her brother.

" Look I know I hurt you, we hurt you but please hear me out."

" Oh like you did when you kicked me out of your home then ridiculed me in front of the whole school. Giving the students who already hated me another reason to bully me?. Kyoko I don't want to hear anything from you or your family. Please don't ever show your face around here again."

" Baby I'm sorry, I was naive and stupid. I just couldn't believe my brother could do something like that."

Anele scoffed. She could not believe her brother was capable of rape but believed that she could lie to her.

" You have to understand I looked up to him, he's my brother."

" I was your girlfriend the girl you claimed to love!"

This is what she didn't want, arguing about a past she had literally left behind.

"  That's different_ but look, I know I fucked up. We can work-"

" Get out!"

Anele was curious as to the family's sudden change in attitude but hearing her make excuses for her behaviour hurt her all over again. She thought she was over the hurt and betrayal but now wished she had pressed on her foot harder.

" Anele pl-"

" For people who kicked me out of their home and made sure that they never set eyes on me, y'all are sure desperate for my time."

" I didn't know my parents came to see you. I just came to apologise and maybe mend our friendship."

" Mend our friendship?. After you said you regretted ever speaking to me in the school hallway back then, you now want to a friendship. If I considered you a friend maybe I would do that but since I saw you for who you are, I don't want anything to do with you in any manner. So please leave my home before I call the police, they might not arrest you but it will be a good story for the gossip pages."

Kyoko doubted that she would do that but at the same time knew that the innocent girl she knew back then, who loved her more than anything was no longer the same person as the woman who stood in front of her right now. Reluctantly she left.
