In a body hugging brown dress, Anele walked into the hotel, as nervous as a sinner in church. Nervous because she was here to meet Kyoko. Who had texted her earlier asking to talk to her. At first she was surprised that Kyoko had her number but recalled that she was employed by Kyoko, obviously she had all her details. Anele was reluctant to meet with her but Kyoko convinced her to come, stating that she just wanted to apologise for her past behaviour. For her part in the Himura's ill treatment of Anele and not supporting her or believing her about the rape.
" It's not necessary. It's all in the past."
Anele had tried to say but Kyoko was adamant and Anele eventually agreed. Being that she was home alone, the twins were with her brother and Bai had a late meeting, she agreed. Bai was unaware that Anele was having dinner with her former girlfriend, Kyoko and Anele knew she would not be happy about it. Since she was aware that Kyoko wanted Anele back.
" Breathe, it's just Kyoko."
As Anele walked into the hotel, she couldn't help but feel a mix of apprehension and anticipation. She glanced around the elegant lobby, searching for Kyoko. Spotting her at a corner table near the window, Anele took a deep breath and made her way over. Kyoko's piercing brown eyes met hers as she approached. Anele couldn't help but feel a pang of attraction - a reminder of what had drawn her to Kyoko in the first place.
Sitting down, Anele tried to keep her composure, her hands fidgeting slightly in her lap. She wasn't sure what she had expected from this meeting. Kyoko took a sip of her drink before speaking softly.
"I know it's been a long time, Anele. I can't undo what happened, but I want you to know how deeply sorry I am for my actions. It was never my intention to hurt you or be a part of the way the my family treated you."
Anele listened intently, her mind racing with conflicting emotions. Part of her yearned to believe Kyoko's sincerity, to forgive and let go of the past. Yet, another part of her wondered if this was just another ploy.
"You keep repeating yourself, saying the same thing but it sounds empty. You're apologising but it doesn't sound sincere to me. Give me the same energy you gave me when you kicked me out of your family home because your brother said I seduced him. Where is that energy?."
Anele's voice trembled as she spoke, her pain and frustration bubbling to the surface. The memories of that fateful day resurfaced, replaying in her mind like a broken record. She had been young and naive, caught in a tangled web of lies and betrayal.
Kyoko sighed, her eyes filled with regret.
"I understand why you feel that way. I have no excuse for my actions back then. I was blinded by my loyalty to my family, and I didn't take the time to truly hear your side of the story. I am truly sorry for the pain and injustice you endured."
Anele looked into Kyoko's eyes, searching for any hint of genuineness. She wanted so desperately to believe that this apology was different, that Kyoko had truly changed but the wounds were deep, and the scars ran even deeper.
"That day changed my life,"
Anele said, her voice laced with a mix of anger and sorrow.
"I lost everything because of false accusations and a lack of support from the people I thought were my family and now, after all these years, you come here and expect me to forgive and forget just because you say you're sorry?"
Kyoko lowered her head, her gaze fixated on her trembling hands.
"I don't expect you to forgive me right away, Anele. I know trust cannot be built overnight, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to earn it back. I just want you to know that I am truly remorseful for the pain I caused you, and I will spend the rest of my life making it right, if you'd allow me to."
Anele's heart softened, torn between holding onto her anger and embracing the possibility of healing. She took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before responding.
"Kyoko, forgiveness is not an easy path for me. It will take time, patience, and consistent effort on your part and even then, I cannot guarantee that I will ever fully trust you again."
Kyoko nodded, her eyes filled with determination.
