" Fine."

Anele sighed hanging up after answering the fifth call from Kenji, she had ignored it four times but answered the fifth as she was annoyed by her phone flashing while she tried to work. She had ignored his first call then put it on silent incase he called again, he did three time a before she finally answered his call. Only for him to annoy her into agreeing to a lunch date.

" You seem excited."

Hae teased. Since the day they kissed, Anele had tried to keep things professional but every now and then she would find herself staring at her lips , thinking about that day. She hated that she now listed over Hae and kept her distance from her.

" Ha,ha, funny. I'm starting to regret letting the Himura's back into my life, now Kenji wants to have dinner with me. Just yesterday his parents invited me to a family gathering this weekend."

" Are you going, to both?"

Hae asked.

" Unfortunately yes, the Himura's just can't accept no for an answer and it's frustrating."

" Why does Kenji want to have dinner with you?"

Hae asked out of curiosity.

" Says he wants to talk about the twins and their future."

" Future, is he planning on putting them in his will?"
Hae

" No, I don't think it's about that, it's too soon to be thinking of wills."

Being she was annoyed by Kenji's call, she forgot to ask what the dinner was about.

" For him it might not be, he might just want to be prepared. I know I would after literally knocking at deaths door."

Anele looked up at Hae in surprise.

" You know he's recovering from leukaemia after receiving a bone marrow transplant."

Anele recalled that the first time she saw him, he did look sickly and at their last encounter he seemed so much healthier but she thought nothing of it, since she did not care for Kenji.

"Really? I had no idea. I mean, we haven't exactly been on the best of terms lately,"

Anele replied, her annoyance fading slightly as she realized the gravity of Kenji's situation. Hae nodded sympathetically.

"Yeah, it's been tough for him. I guess that's why he's been reaching out to you more. He probably wants to reconnect after everything he's been through."

Anele sighed, feeling a pang of guilt for not considering Kenji's perspective.

"I guess I've been so caught up in my own issues with him and his family that I didn't stop to think about what he's been going through. I should probably give him a chance and listen to what he has to say."

Hae smiled and touched Anele's hand.

"I think that's a good idea. Maybe this dinner could be an opportunity for both of you to clear the air and maybe even reconcile. You never know."

Anele nodded slowly, contemplating Hae's words. Maybe it was time to let go of her resentment and give Kenji a chance. After all, he had been through a life-threatening illness, and perhaps he had changed. It wouldn't hurt to find out.

"Thanks, Hae. I appreciate your perspective. I'll try to approach the dinner with an open mind and see where it leads."

Hae squeezed her hand supportively.

"I'm here for you, Anele. Whatever you decide, I'll support you."

Anele pulled her hand back, startled by the feeling Hae's touch was giving her. Hae noticed this reaction and thought Anele did not appreciate her touching her, with a sad heart she left Anele's office for her own.

" Happy valentines."

Kenji smiled as he handed her a red rose after the hostess left her with him. Anele accepted the red rose and heart shaped velvet box he held out to her.

" It's tomorrow actually but thank you."

Anele sat down after he pulled the chair out for her. Looking around the restaurant was filled with couples. She glared at Kenji.
