Bae was more shocked by her reaction more than Anele. She could not explain how it happened but as soon as the words " I kissed Koko." left Anele's mouth, she slapped her. It was like she blacked out but thankfully she did not go further than a slap to the cheek. Bae tried to apologise and check on the damage but Anele stepped back with her hand in her cheek. The hurt and fear in Anele's eyes made her feel horrible.
" I'm sorry I didn't mean to hit you."
Anele knew she was wrong for kissing Kyoko, not one but multiple times , when Bae was nothing but faithful but felt that she did not deserve to be slapped. She took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions.
"Bae, I understand that you're upset, but violence is never the answer. I made a mistake, and I'm truly sorry for hurting you. But I also think we need to address the underlying issues here."
Bae wanted to be angry, to yell and scream at Anele for betraying her trust but seeing the remorse in her eyes, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. She couldn't deny that there were problems in their relationship that had led to this moment.
Taking a step closer, Bae reached out to gently touch Anele's cheek where she had slapped her. Anele flinched slightly at the contact, but didn't pull away.
"We need to talk, Anele. About what happened, about our relationship. This can't go on like this."
Anele nodded silently, her eyes filled with tears.
"I know, Bae. I messed up, and I don't deserve your forgiveness but I love you, and I want to make things right. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to rebuild your trust."
Anele meant every word.
Bae sighed, feeling a mix of anger and sadness.
"Trust is not something that can be easily repaired, Anele. It will take time and effort from both of us but if we want to salvage our relationship, we need to be completely honest and address the underlying issues."
Anele nodded again, holding back her tears.
"I promise, Bae. I'll be honest with you, and I'll work on myself. I don't want to lose you."
Bae pulled her into a hug, finally letting the tears fall.
"I don't want to lose you either, Anele but I think we need some space. What I just did right now scared me."
" It's okay, you were just shocked and did not mean to hit me."
" No don't be that woman, you're better than that. Stronger than that. Look we both made a mistake and we both need to be willing to change and grow. We have to communicate better, trust each other, and prioritize our relationship."
Anele held onto Bae tightly, whispering apologies and promises into her ear. Bae wanted to believe her, to give their love another chance but deep down, she knew that rebuilding trust would not be easy. It would take time, patience, and a lot of work from both of them. She also felt guilty for her own action.
" Anni I love you and want to be with you but right now I think it's best we take time apart, just to reflect on both of our actions. It doesn't mean I'm ending the relationship just taking a break."
Anele shook her head No as tears rolled down her cheeks She pleaded with Bae, her voice trembling with desperation.
"I made a terrible mistake,I'm so sorry. I don't want to lose you. I know I hurt you but I promise to do whatever it takes to earn back your trust."
Bae' could see the genuine remorse in her eyes, and a part of her wanted to believe that they could work through this but the pain and betrayal lingered, and she couldn't ignore the doubts that filled her mind.
