Anele spent the day watching her children enjoy themselves at the theme park. Usually the rich families of the country would book the whole park for themselves to avoid chaos but Kyoko had wanted the twins to have a normal them park experience with other people present. Her usual guards were not even present, the only thing she had on was a cap and a fake moustache as a disguise. Kyoko made sure to play every game and get on every ride their height and age allowed them to, she too joined in but Kyoko's words stayed with her.
" I know you don't want to be here but you could at least smile when you see your favourite desert."
Kyoko was talking about the strawberry cheesecake she had just ordered for her. Anele looked down at it and frowned.
" What's wrong?"
Kyoko asked noticing the frown.
" This was our thing, haven't liked or eaten one in almost six years because of _ you know."
Kyoko only recently started thinking of how her actions back then had affected Anele and she would have never thought that her actions would affect her to this extent.
" What else do you hate now because of what I did to you back then?"
Anele paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before responding.
" It's not just about the cheesecake, Kyoko. It's about the memories and the hurt that I still carry with me. It's about the things I still struggle with because of what happened. It's not just about the dessert."
Kyoko felt a pang of guilt and regret as she listened to Anele's words. She had never fully realized the impact of her actions on Anele and now she was beginning to understand the depth of the hurt she had caused.
" I'm so sorry, Anele. I never meant to hurt you like that. I know it doesn't change things, but I am truly sorry."
Anele looked up and met Kyoko's gaze, seeing the sincerity in her eyes. She nodded, acknowledging the apology.
" I appreciate that, Kyoko. Just please try to understand where I'm coming from."
Kyoko nodded. She wanted to continue the conversation but the twins ride stopped and she had to go help them off. Being with and around the twins made her happy, reminded her of how fun life can be and of how fun it was between her and Anele before everything changed. She loved kids, Anele knew this and promised her back then that they would have as many kids as she wanted.
" It's getting late, we should head home."
The twins groaned at Kyoko's words, they never wanted to leave the park. They were having too much fun and had bargained with Anele three hours ago when she mentioned that they had to head home then.
" Come on now guys, it's dark and you know mommy has an exam to study for."
Kyoko reasoned while Anele watched on, she was already feeling guilty because of what Kyoko has said earlier, hence she agreed on staying three more hours but she would let Kyoko handle it now.
" She always has to study! We never get to just have fun."
The twins complained.
Kyoko noticed Anele look away from them and realised that maybe what she said earlier was a bit harsh.
" Hey you've had the whole day with your mom of having fun but now we have to go home because first it's dark, the them park is closing in an hour and your mom has to study, she hates it as much as you both do but she's doing it for a better future for all of you."
Kyoko reasoned. Anele was impressed by how gentle she was with them.
" She should just marry you and we'll be set for life."
The women looked at each other, shocked by Dara's words, who quickly ran to the car with her brother in tow. Then laughed.
