" Let go I'm fine."
Kyoko who was traumatised by Anele's reaction to seeing her brother, let go of Anele's waist. Which she did not realise she was holding till then. If she had any doubt that her brother had raped Anele, she completely believed he was guilty now. Just seeing Kenji caused so much panic in Anele that she could not see that she was in a room with people who cared about her or that Kenji was no longer the strong man he used to be, due to illness he had become frail.
" Thank you."
Anele sniffed.
As Kyoko stepped back, she noticed tears streaming down Anele's face. The panic in her eyes was palpable, and it broke Kyoko's heart to see her former girlfriend, the woman she still very much loved, in such pain. Anele's reaction confirmed her worst fears - her brother had indeed caused harm to Anele and she chose to believe her brother over her.
" I'm sorry."
Despite her own shock and anger towards her brother, Kyoko's first instinct was to comfort Anele but she knew that it would not be well received. She craved to hold her in her arms, calm her and explain that everything would be alright from today onwards.
"I'm so sorry, Anele,"
she repeated in a whisper, her voice trembling.
"I should have never doubted you."
" Well it's all in the past. We all made mistakes."
Kyoko tried to take a step towards her but Anele took two steps back and avoided looking at her. Anele pulled out her phone form her pocket and dialled it before placing it on her ear. Kyoko could hear the ringing tone from Anele's phone since she was in arm's reach. The call went unanswered.
" Shit!"
Anele cussed out of frustration, Kyoko smiled she knew about this habit of hers and she was immediately reminded of all the times she scolded her for her potty mouth. They had a great relationship, a relationship some of her friends and almost all of their school mates hated. How could she be so stupid.
" You can leave the club for a few minutes."
Kyoko heard her say as a man's muffled voice came from the other end of the phone. She figured it was her brother.
" Fine Musa, I'll get a taxi service."
There was no one available to come pick her up and Kyoko saw this as an opportunity, an opportunity to spend some time with her but she saw Kenji walk out of Anele's childhood home. Afraid Anele would have another panic attack if she noticed Kenji. Kyoko stomped towards her brother, Kenji to prevent him coming closer to Anele .
" What are you doing here?"
Kyoko asked sternly, narrowing her eyes at her brother. She could see the surprise in his face as he stopped in his tracks.
" I just wanted to talk to her, to apologise."
Kenji explained, his voice filled with urgency.
" She doesn't want or need your apology. Please leave."
Kyoko took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. She knew that Anele had been through a lot, especially now after her panic attack and another encounter with Kenji would only add to her distress. She couldn't let that happen.
" I need to talk to her for the sake of our child."
"Look, Kenji, I understand that you have your reasons to want to talk to her, but Anele is not in a good place right now."
Kyoko said firmly.
"She needs some space, time to heal."
Kenji's expression hardened.
" You know you ain't getting her back right. I mean what you did to her, is worse than what I did. You were not there for her when she needed you most and now you're trying to make up for it. It will never work."
Kyoko was speechless.
