Anele woke up the following Friday morning with a bank notification, she thought it was the banks usual messages about avoiding scammers but to her surprise it was a money in notification. Checking the reference she saw it was her pay but payday was supposed to be on Monday but that was not what shocked her, her pay was more than normal. Instead of celebrating she got angry and immediately dialled Kyoko.

" Miss me?"

Kyoko smiled leaning back on her office chair but Anele was to angry to care or notice or greet her first.

" I don't know what you think you're doing but I told you I don't want your handouts. I was fine without you and I'll be fine. If you think I'll sleep with you because you paid me an extra five thousand-"

Kyoko hung up cutting her off, for a minute she stood there staring at her phone before an incoming call from Minnie. Who immediately went into praising Kyoko for the extra cash injection. Kyoko had not given her a handout but had added extra money for all the restaurant employees. Kyoko was not giving her a handout. Anele felt like a fool after their call but was too embarrassed to call Kyoko back and apologise.

Hence she was happy to find that Kyoko would not be in the restaurant for the rest of her shift but as soon as Anele walked out of the restaurant at the end of her shift, she found Kyoko leaning on her sports car. Anele wished the earth could open up and swallow her right there and then. After taking a few deep breaths while thinking of ways to apologise , she walked over to Kyoko with her head down and her hands fidgeting nervously. As she approached, Anele could feel the tension in the air, and a wave of guilt washed over her.

"Kyoko,"

Anele finally said, her voice laced with sincerity.

"I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I jumped to conclusions without fully understanding the situation."

Kyoko straightened up, her eyes still skeptical, but there was a flicker of hope in them.

"Well, it's about time you realized that,"

she replied, her tone guarded.

Anele swallowed hard, her pride nearly choking her words.

"I know I was wrong to accuse you of trying to bribe me. I should have trusted you, especially considering how you treat your employees."

She paused for a moment, searching for the right words.

"You've always been fair, and I let my insecurities get the best of me."

Kyoko nodded, her expression softening slightly.

"You're damn right about that,"

she said, a hint of a smile playing on the corners of her lips.

"I may not be the warmest person, but I believe in treating people fairly and giving credit where it's due."

Anele took a deep breath, feeling a glimmer of hope that she could mend their fractured relationship.

"I understand if you don't trust me right away, but I promise you, I will make it up to you. I will be a better employee and I'll never let my assumptions cloud my judgment again."

Kyoko studied Anele for a moment, her gaze intense. The silence between them seemed to stretch on, heavy with unspoken emotions. Finally, Kyoko sighed and nodded.

"Alright, Anele. We all make mistakes."

Relief flooded over Anele, and a genuine smile tugged at her lips.

"Thank you, Kyoko."

As they stood there, forgiveness began to bloom, building a bridge between them. It wouldn't be easy, but both Anele and Kyoko were willing to put in the effort to rebuild the trust that had been shattered and perhaps, in time, they would go from being mere colleagues to understanding and supporting each other as friends.

" Want a ride?"

Anele was hesitant because she had to pick up the twins from school but then figured that they would eventually meet.
