After the day she had the last thing Kyoko wanted was to see her parents but her grandparents had called her over for dinner but she knew what that meant. Her interaction with Anele earlier that day had left her emotionally confused, she was shocked at how angry she was but turned on by her aggression. It caught her off guard though that she was capable of such. Thinking back on the past she recalled that Anele was a gentle person who would not hurt a fly.

" It's my fault she's turned out this way."

Taking a deep breath, Anele turned off her car then sat in her grandparent's driveway smoking to calm herself. Arguments with her father were inevitable and she knew they would argue as soon as she told them that she had failed to convince Anele to forgive  Kyoko's family for their past mistakes.

" Fuck."

As Kyoko stepped out of her car and walked towards her grandparents' house, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that her parents would be waiting inside, ready to reprimand her for not being able to reconcile with Anele. Despite her own conflicted emotions, she had tried her best to reason with Anele and make her understand that things had changed.

As she entered the house, the familiar smell of her grandparents' cooking welcomed her. But her heart sank as she saw her parents sitting at the dining table, their faces tense and disapproving. Kyoko's father, a stern man with a commanding presence, was the first to speak.

"You've failed us, Kyoko,"

he said, his voice dripping with disappointment.

"We entrusted you with the responsibility of making things right with Anele, and you couldn't even accomplish that."

Kyoko felt the weight of her father's words press down on her, making her feel smaller and more insignificant with every passing second. She looked at her mother, hoping to find some solace or understanding, but her mother's gaze held a mixture of disappointment and frustration as well.

"It's not that easy. Anele is hurt, and she has the right to feel that way. We can't expect her to forgive and forget just because we want her to."

Her father's face turned red with anger, and he slammed his fist on the table.

"This is not about what she wants! It's about what's best for our family's reputation and legacy. We have worked too hard to allow one person's stubbornness to tarnish it all."

Kyoko's heart sank even further, her eyes brimming with tears that she fought to hold back. She had always felt the pressure of upholding her family's name, but she also believed in the power of forgiveness and understanding. And in this moment, she couldn't help but question if her family truly valued those principles.

" You mean save your son."

Her father stayed silent.

" what about Anele's feelings, Dad?"

Kyoko pleaded, her voice shaking.

"What about her pain, her experiences? Don't they matter too?"

Her mother spoke up, her tone softer but still tinged with disappointment.

"Kyoko, we understand that Anele has suffered, but we can't let that dictate our actions. We must prioritize the family."

Kyoko's mind swirled with conflicting emotions. She loved her parents, but in that moment, she couldn't help but feel a growing divide between them. She felt torn between loyalty to her family and staying true to her own beliefs and values.

With a heavy heart, Kyoko gathered her courage and stood up.

"I'm sorry, but I can't ignore Anele's pain. I can't dismiss her like you want me to. She deserves better, and so do I."

" Kyoko we're not ignoring her pain, we want to make up for our transgressions and build a bond with her, with the child."

Her grandfather explained.
