" Ey wake up. I've got to go."

Kyoko said shaking her latest conquest awake. It has been six years since her last serious relationship . After she thought Anele had slept and had children with her brother, she had lost interest in dating. Kyoko had women she called up when she needed a release and they were always willing to spend the night.

" It's fine, I'll stay I've got nowhere to be."

Kyoko glared at the woman.

" Lady did you forget this was just a one night stand. You should be thankful I didn't kick you out earlier."

The woman's face grew pale, and she stumbled out of bed, hastily collecting her belongings. Kyoko rolled her eyes and headed towards the bathroom, not bothering to watch her leave. She knew she couldn't afford any attachments or emotions in her life.

" You ain't shit!"

" Tell me something I don't know."

As she washed her face, she couldn't help but reflect on the past six years. After losing the woman she loved and discovering the betrayal of her parents and her brother, she had built walls around her heart. The pain had been unbearable, and she vowed never to let anyone come in between her and Anele ever again, if Anele gives her a chance.

" I fucked up big time!"

She said to no one in particular. Kyoko had completely moved out of her childhood home immediately after she found out that Kenji had lied and realised that, because of her family age has hurt the woman she still loved.

" There must be a way I can get her to see."

She mumbled to herself as the water hit her head then cascaded down her tattooed body. To be told she was still very much in love with Anele. Her love for her never faded even when she let those girls jump her. If only she could turn back the hands of time and make things right with her.

Sometimes, in the quiet moments of the night, a loneliness crept in. The empty bed beside her felt colder each passing day. She pushed those thoughts away, reminding herself that it was better this way. One-night stands provided temporary companionship without the risk of emotional entanglement.

Kyoko stepped out of the bathroom and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her eyes held a shadow of the vibrant woman she used to be. Determined to regain control, she straightened her shoulders and put on her usual mask of indifference. She had things to accomplish, a life to lead, and no time for sentimentality.

As she walked towards the door, she noticed the woman she had just dismissed standing by the entrance, tears streaming down her face. Kyoko's initial annoyance faded, and a trace of remorse flickered within her but she quickly squashed it. This was the life she had chosen, a life of detached encounters and fleeting connections.

Without another word, Kyoko opened the door and stepped out into the morning sunlight. The woman's sobs echoed behind her, and for a brief moment, she allowed herself to feel a pang of guilt but then, she pushed it away, reminding herself that this was the price she paid for protecting her heart.

Her driver was waiting. They disappeared into the bustling city, determined to bury herself in work and distraction. Love and deep connections may have eluded her, but she would not let that define her. She had convinced herself that she was better off this way, strong and independent.

Yet, as the city lights blurred outside the window, she could not help thinking about Anele. Kyoko wanted her back and hated seeing Bai come pick her up after work, she hated that Anele was out there loving a woman who was not her. How was she going to get her back when Anele wanted nothing to do with the Himura's, especially her?.
