Bai noticed the florist truck drive past her as she drove towards her girlfriend's place. She could tell it was an expensive florist because being from a wealthy family she knew which florists the elite used but she wondered what they were doing in this part of town. The middle class could not afford their prices especially if they had to be delivered and the lower class could definitely not afford to even buy one flower from them but she did not think about it much. She figured they were lost or somebody has a mistress in this side of town but when she drove into her girlfriends apartment building, she noticed a bucket with a huge bouquet inside and a note that said free on it. She picked one and went into her girlfriends apartment.
" A beautiful rose for a beautiful lady."
" Where did you get this?"
" I bought it, why do you act like I can't buy a rose."
" No offence but you've never bought me flowers."
" Well I saw a guy selling them when I drove here, so I thought I should buy you one since you love flowers."
Anele raised her eyebrows in doubt.
" Fine, somebody placed them by the building entrance and I took one."
" I placed them there."
Bai was surprised as she had noticed that were not cheap flowers, Anele could not afford to buy them with her current situation.
" Don't look at me like that but the Himura's are in town and have been trying to get me to talk to them since yesterday. They're the ones who sent over those flowers to try to coax me, I guess."
" Thee Himura's?"
" Are there any other?."
" Wow! What do they want from you?"
" Unfortunately they share dna with the twins."
Bai did not know the history behind Anele and the father of her twins but knew that he was not in their lives. She never cared to ask further because he was her past and did not matter at that time.
" You mean you dated Kenji?"
" No. it's complicated."
" Why don't you want to talk to them, I thought you would've loved for the twins to know their grandparents."
" I never said that but they're better off not having a relationship with them."
" Babe it's been six years and you need help with the twins and your finances."
Anele paused mid packing her children's school backpacks and stared at her girlfriend.
" I need help?. I don't recall asking you for help with the twins or borrowing money from you.."
" I didn't mean it like that but face it, this place is not suitable for them and your brother has a life of his own too, he won't always be available to pick them up or watch them when you can't. It's good that their grandparents want to get to know them, they are their blood after all and will do anything for them."
I knew how much the Himura's valued family, hence I approached them after I found out I was pregnant but they kicked me out like trash. Then their daughter broke my spirit.
" You're right, you don't know my history with them so please don't give advice on how I should raise my children."
" I just think it's unfair that they have to suffer because you're angry at them, your kids deserve the life of abundance the Himura's can offer."
" I'm taking good care of my kids and they get what they want."
" Babe I'm not judging you or calling you a bad mother but as a product of two people who never liked each other, I wish somebody had advised my dad to let me have a relationship with my mom because now that I do, I've never been happier."
