Kyoko just had to walk into any space Anele was in and she could feel the anger she had for her without any words shared. As much as it hurt Kyoko, she knew she deserved it because she took her brothers side when Anele came to her for help after Kenji attacked her but they were just sixteen at the time and she never thought her brother could do something like that, especially to her girlfriend, Anele. Kyoko always confided in her brother about Anele. He, Kenji was the one to encourage her to go after Anele when she told him about her crush on Anele.

" Hey?"

Anele looked at her up then down before walking past Kyoko without replying to her greeting. Kyoko followed behind her, leaving a confused Ayana in the locker room. Kyoko tried to catch up with Anele, her heart pounding in her chest. She needed to talk to her, to explain herself, to apologise until she understood her actions. Anele's silence spoke volumes, and it scared Kyoko.

"Wait, Anele, please!"

Kyoko pleaded, reaching out to grab her arm gently. Anele stopped in her tracks, but she didn't turn to face Kyoko.

"What do you want, Kyoko?"

Anele's voice was cold and distant, lacking any of the warmth it used to hold. The hurt in her eyes was evident, and Kyoko knew that repairing their relationship would not be easy.

"I... I'm so sorry, Anele,"

Kyoko stammered, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I didn't know. I never thought Kenji would do something like that to you, to anyone. I should have believed you, I should have been there for you..."

Anele turned around slowly, her gaze piercing through Kyoko.

"but you weren't. It's a little too late for this."

" Anele I don't know what else to say."

Anele shook her head.

"You chose your brother's side. You dismissed my pain and defended him. How could you do that?"

Kyoko's voice cracked as she spoke, her regret overwhelming her.

"I was naive. I was blinded by my love for Kenji and I didn't want to believe he was capable of something like that. I'm so, so sorry, Anele. I never meant to hurt you."

An uncomfortable silence fell between them, the tension thick in the air. Anele's face softened slightly, a mix of anger and sadness evident.

"Kyoko, I loved you. I trusted you and you let me down."

Tears streamed down Kyoko's face as she struggled to find the right words to say. She reached out and gently touched Anele's cheek.

"Please, Anele, give me a chance to make it right. I know I can't change what happened, but I want to be there for you now. I want to be the person you can confide in, the person you can trust again."

Anele's gaze softened as she looked into Kyoko's eyes, searching for sincerity. After a moment of contemplation, she let out a heavy sigh.

" Unfortunately you can't make it right, you weren't there for me when I needed you. You return after five years and expect me to welcome you with open arms, it doesn't work like that."

" I didn't wait five years but I just recently found out that you were telling the truth about him raping you and getting you pregnant."

Anele scoffed.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you all these years but I'm here now and I'm willing to do anything to make it up to you for not believing you back then."

Kyoko new that her ex-girlfriend did not forgive easily but as they stood facing each other in the restaurant staff room, where they had entered for some privacy, she prayed for a chance to get her back and maybe finally meet her niece or nephew.
