" You seriously need to stop drinking and ignoring your parents phone calls."
Kyoko's friend Aiko said grabbing the bottle of expensive cognac from her hand. They had spent the day laid out on the private pool of her penthouse apartment. Kyoko or Koko as she was affectionately known, had not done anything but drink since speaking with her brother six days ago.
" They can call all they want, they're not getting an answer from me. They're the reason I'm dousing my sorrows in alcohol."
Koko (Coco) grabbed the bottle back.
"I think you mean drowning."
" Whatever!"
" Put the bottle aside and talk to me. You haven't told me anything about what happened, yet you asked me to find her for you."
Kyoko quickly sat up right, when she recalled the assignment she had given her detective friend. In her drunken state she had forgotten the reason for Aiko's visit.
" Have you found her?"
" I'm not telling you my findings till you tell me what happened for you to be mad at your whole family-"
" Aiko just give me the address, I don't want to talk about my family right now."
" You said you wanted nothing to do with Anele six years ago, what changed?"
" Well six years is a long time and I'm allowed to change my mind. Now the address."
" You know she had the baby and wants nothing to do with you too?"
"I know that and I don't blame her after how I treated her . I was with her for two and a half years but as soon as my brother said she tried to force herself on him, I took his side. Didn't even give her a chance to explain herself because I was dumb enough to believe my brother would never lie to me."
Her eyes sparkled as she spoke.
" I don't expect her to welcome me with open arms."
Feeling saddened by the look on her friends face, Aiko handed her the piece of paper she has scribbled the address on. Kyoko held it between her fingers starring at it as of she was going to magically be transported to her front door if she starred harder. She quickly got up but Aiko was quicker and halted her movements.
" You cannot go over there in this state."
" I need to see her, I need to apologise. Beg for her forgiveness."
" I understand that but you're drunk, if you don't hurt yourself and other drivers or pedestrians, you will say something or do something that will anger her further."
" I have a driver, perks of having rich parents who don't know what to do with their money or kids. I'm not that drunk and will be mindful of my words."
" I still think you should sleep on it then go see her tomorrow when you're completely sober."
" I've thought about it since I found out that my brother lied, there is no more reason to think. The only thing I'll do is drink some more."
" Lied about what?"
Even though they had been friends since they were little girls, due to their families being in the same circles, Kyoko never told her what had happened. Mainly because her parents did not want it getting out that their son was accused of such a crime.
" Nothing."
She still could not tell her because her parents still did not want the wrong people hearing about it and getting Kenji in trouble. Her parents favourite child, she chuckled at the thought.
" It must be important if it affected you the way it did and it still affects you even today."
Kyoko ignored her friend's question and pulled out her phone from her pocket with her free hand since Aiko still had a strong grip on the right wrist.
