" I thought by now you'd see that I'm trying to make up for that. We all are. Speaking for my family, they've learnt their lesson and I think you should let them meet."
Hate was a strong word and she never liked to use it unless it concerned the paternal grandparents of her twins and Kyoko just mentioning the prospect of Dae and Dara ( the twins) meeting Kyoko's parents made her want to fight but Kyoko was right. They not only needed to meet their grandparents but they also had to meet their father, Kenji.
The twins had never seen their grandparents or their father. A bitter feud had torn the family apart, fueled by misunderstandings and deep-rooted resentment but now, Kyoko was adamant that it was time to put the past behind them and try to mend the broken relationships.
As much as Anele despised the idea, the words echoed in her mind.
"We all are trying to make up for that."
Could it be true? Could the Himura's have truly changed? The thought was hard to accept, but she couldn't ignore the possibility of a renewed connection between the children and their paternal family.
Reluctantly, she began to consider the consequences of keeping Dae and Dara away from their grandparents and father. Would it be fair to deny them the opportunity to form their own opinions, to learn and grow from the experiences that family can offer? As a mother, she always wanted what was best for her children, and now she had to carefully weigh the potential benefits against the risk and discomfort it may bring.
Pulling her thoughts together, she looked at Kyoko and took a deep breath.
"Alright, Kyoko. I hear you, and I understand that everyone is trying to make amends but I need to proceed with caution. I'll consider letting them meet, but there will be conditions. We need to have an open and honest conversation, set boundaries, and ensure that the well-being and safety of my children come first."
Kyoko nodded, seemingly grateful for the slight acknowledgment of her perspective.
"I agree,"
she said softly.
"Thank you for being willing to at least consider it. I truly believe this could be the start of healing for all of us."
" All of us? When did you start caring about all of us?"
Kyoko understood that she was talking about her parents and brother since she did not have a good relationship with either.
" I may have personal issues with my family but I know how regretful they are for denying their grandchildren. They beat themselves up about it everyday, since Kenji confessed and they really want to meet the twins."
Anele sighed before getting up from the couch and removed the dirty dishes they just had dinner in. Kyoko followed her into the kitchen with her sleeves rolled up to help her clean.
" Remember how your grandmother would scold you for doing housework, because Himura women hire people to clean their homes."
Kyoko laughed at Anele's attempt at mimicking her grandmother. Kyoko loved washing dishes and cleaning because she felt it was therapeutic but her family, friends and circle hated that she behaved like a commoner. Hence she enjoyed being around Anele, she let her do what she wanted without reminding her that she was a Himura. Anele was the only one who did not care about her family status.
" Thank you."
" For what?"
Anele asked confused.
" For making me feel normal and laugh just now. I don't think I've laughed as much as I have recently in a long time."
Without thinking Kyoko grabbed Anele's neck, with wet foamy hands and kissed her. Taking her by surprise. Anele shuddered as the warm foam slid down the centre of her chest and pulled the tall woman by her waist into her. She kissed her back with hunger, Bae all forgotten.
