" Nice of you to finally show up."
Kyoko sneered when her father remarked as she walked into her grandparents home. If it was not for her grandparents she would have not agreed on coming over even though they used dinner as an excuse to get her here. She knew it had nothing to do with them missing her. As soon as she saw her grandparents house number she knew that they were calling on behalf of her parents but because she respected them more than she did her own parents, she agreed to come. Her lateness was deliberate.
" Ichiro!"
The elder mister Himura scolded.
" Sorry father."
Kyoko's father apologised but glared at her as she confidently smiled at him. The father and daughter were at loggerheads ever since Kyoko started her own company because her father would not let her run his company. They gave it to her brother Kenji and assigned her as his assistant. To say she was hurt was an understatement .
"Kyoko you're an intelligent young woman, l won't beat around the bush. We need you to meet with Anele and convince her to have a meeting with us. We've tried but she refuses to hear us out."
" The last time I did anything for this family, I hurt, then lost the woman I loved and now you want me to do something for y'all?. No."
Kyoko noticed her mother divert her eyes from her, she could not handle the guilt. Since it was her who told Kyoko about what Namhla's accusations and advised her to stay away from her.
" Kyoko!"
Her father scolded. Kyoko hated that her father who raised her expected to be meek when he raised her to be independent and strong headed. Her grandfather had only to tune his attention to his son and Ichiro immediately said down.
" Kyoko you know this could also get you back in her good books."
" Grandad after what I did, I don't think she will let me into any chapter of her life."
" Don't give up without trying."
" That's the thing I've tried and I can't even get a hello from her. She hates us, hates me."
The thought of being hated by Anele saddened her.
" When did you see her?"
Kenji who had been seated quietly next to their mother finally spoke. Kyoko just glared at him. As far as she was concerned her brother did not deserve to know about Anele or even still be breathing. The big brother she thought was the greatest once upon a time had turned out to be a façade. Her parents had tried to keep her from finding out the truth about that faithful night.
" Has she said anything about my kid."
" Your kid?!"
Kyoko scoffed. Growing up she never understood how people who grew up together could hate each other but thanks to her eavesdropping on her parents argument a few months ago, she now understood.
" I know it hurts but she did have my child."
It took everything in Kyoko not to lunge at her brother. She kissed her teeth then turned her attention to her grandfather.
" I apologise Grandpa but I can't help you."
Her grandfather say silent with his thoughts.
" The detective did say she's struggling with her finances, maybe if we could get her by offering financial assistance."
" Grandma Anele is a hard headed independent woman, she won't accept financial assistance from anyone especially not us."
" Kyoko everybody has a prize, especially people in dire need of money."
Her grandmother's words did not shock her. Since she was a child she was taught that money gets you everything and it did. Kyoko had used her family status and money to get her way in life. This power also made her a bully, using money.
