" As usual she's late."
Byeol said to Minnie as they watched Anele hurriedly walk towards their table.
" I'm sorry ladies but I had to drop the kids off at my parents before meeting you guys."
Her friends accepted her apology before calling for the waiter. Who rushed over with his notepad and pencil to take their orders.
" We haven't done this in so long, we weren't aware that you had made amends with your parents."
Minnie
" I actually knew because I'm the only one who calls to check on you both."
Byeol
" We're sorry friend but know that even though we don't call, you're still in our hearts and minds every minute of every day."
Byeol rolled her eyes laughing, she knew Anele and Minnie were bad with keeping in contact via phone or video calls, she didn't mind.
" Talk about hearts, Bai came to the restaurant looking for you."
Minnie informed Anele.
" What? What did she want with me, I thought when she broke up with me she didn't want anything to do with me.?"
Anele had a hard time getting over Bai even though she had moved on with Kyoko.
" She just said that she needed to talk to you about something important but you've got her blocked on everything and she doesn't know where you work now or where you live."
Minnie explained with Byeol listening and shaking her head.
" Hope you didn't give out any of her new information.?"
Byeol looked at Minnie sceptically.
" I'm not that dumb Byeol, I wouldn't do that not knowing the real reason Bai is looking for Anele but I did take Bai's numbers."
Minnie turned to Anele waiting for her to tell her if she wanted the numbers.
" I don't think it's advisable I take her numbers but I'll unblock her and see if she texts me."
Anele
" What do you think she wants?"
Byeol asked Anele, who shrug her shoulders.
" Beats me. The last time I saw her she seemed happy, so I doubt it could be anything to do with her wanting me back and I have nothing of hers."
Knowing that Bai was looking for her troubled Anele throughout the lunch with her friends. After separating from her friends, she headed back into her work office where she had forgotten her phone, to find Hae was waiting for her.
" I thought you'd left?"
Hae handed her phone over to her but as Anele tried to take it from her hand, Hae surprised her by holding onto her hand then pulled onto her chest, wrapping her arm around Anele's waist and kissed her. Anele kissed her back for a second before she pushed her away with all her strength.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
Anele exclaimed, trying to catch her breath. She took a step back, staring at Hae in disbelief.
Hae's face contorted into hurt.
"I...I'm sorry,"
she stammered.
" I don't know what came over me."."
Anele shook her head, her heart pounding in her chest.
" Please don't let it happen again, you're my boss and even if you weren't, I'm with Kyoko."
Hurt turned into anger as Hae clenched her fists.
" She doesn't deserve you,"
she spat, venom dripping from her words. Anele's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin.
" What's that supposed to mean?"
Hae's expression softened, regret seeping into her features.
" I'm sorry, you're right, I'm your boss. Hopefully this won't affect our work relationship."
Anele stood outside her office looking at Hae's retreating back with confusion.
" That was weird."
With that, Anele grabbed her phone and quickly walked away. Anele knew that her encounter with Hae would undoubtedly complicate things further and it did not help that she enjoyed the kiss. As the day progressed, she found herself thinking about Hae's kiss.
