Anele was taken aback when Kyoko swerved as she tried to kiss her and continued typing on her phone. They were standing in the kitchen about to start on dinner and Anele had thought to embrace her while the twins were in their rooms getting changed. Anele stood back, folded her arms over her breasts wondering why she was getting the cold shoulder.
" What's wrong?"
Anele asked Kyoko who seemed preoccupied with her phone ever since they picked up the twins. Without looking away from her phone, Kyoko replied.
" There's nothing wrong, why would you think there's something wrong?"
" Well just that not long ago you were all over me and now you're swerving my kisses."
With a sigh, Kyoko put away her phone.
" Why did Kenji have Dae and Dara?"
Not this from you too, Anele thought. She understood her brother having an issue with Kenji but thought Kyoko would be more understanding and accepting of Kenji spending time with his children.
" I didn't think you would have a problem with that but he is their father and they need to know him and have a relationship with them."
" He is their father?! Have you forgotten how he became their father or that doesn't matter right now."
Anele sighed as she placed the pot of water into the stove.
" No I haven't forgotten but it's time I forgave and moved on with my life. Plus this is not about me, it's about what's best for the twins."
" What's best for the twins is not being around Kenji. Just because they have his dna doesn't mean they shou have a relationship with him."
" He's your brother-"
" That's why I'm telling you this because he's my brother. He hasn't changed from the man who rap-"
Anele dropped her spatula into the sauce in the pot to quickly cover Kyoko's mouth with her hands.
" Not so loud the twins will hear you."
After getting dressed the twins had gone into the living room where they quietly sat watching their favourite show. With their fitful laughter signalling the parents that they were still watching television.
" That's excellent, they should know what kind of man their father is. What are you going to say one day when they ask how they came to be conceived?"
" I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, right now it's not of importance. What's important is that they get to know Kenji and Kenji gets to know them. They might need him tomorrow, life is unpredictable."
" That's not a good enough reason Anele! I'm here if you or them need anything I can provide for you. Even if you're not around, I'll be there for them. They don't need Kenji."
Anele did not want to argue especially about Kenji, who was the reason they broke up in the first place.
" You know I spent five years just fine without you and your family, y'all looked for me and spoke up forgiveness and all the good things but now that I'm practicing what y'all preached y'all don't like it."
" I never said forgive anybody but me. I would've been fine with you just forgiving me but giving Kenji so much access into your life has nothing to do with forgiveness. You could've forgiven him at a distance."
" You do realise when the kids are at your parents home, he gets to be with them there too. There's really not that much difference between him having them at his home and being with them at your parents home."
" At least my parents and I are there when the twins are there. Now you're letting him into our home, you're going into his. What makes you so sure he won't hurt you again?"
Anele was not sure that he would not hurt her but she figured with the twins around, he would not try anything.
