Chapter 1~•☆Owls in the Moss》

Life wasn't quite particular for the Hale Moonshard twins Meadow Starr Celestine and AJ Blake Neptune, (AJ being short for Atticus Junior). First of all, they learned that they weren't ordinary people at all. They hadn't even learned to walk before the first fullmoon struck and they figured out that ordinary, was far out of reach. Blimey, they were werewolves and this was a shock for them both but their mother Skyler Hale was always there to support them on the journey they would make.

Being werewolves were enough for them to handle and nothing could make things get more complicated and odd with the twins but to their surprise, things just grew stranger and stranger as the days went by, especially before their eleventh birthday.

Meadow's and AJ's birthday was getting closer and closer by the days that flew by and both were rather excited already. Their mother had promised them that they would get a silver chain necklace with a triskelion pendant and a small gold heart pendant hanging on it. The two of them has always dreamed of owning one and that's why their eleventh birthday would be the far best.

The day before their birthday they woke up by utter surprise when two owls had broken into their house and they was now rummaging through the food pantry. Meadow was both stunned and confused on why in the world owls of all sort of things had found their way into the cosy childhood home. AJ was well, a little gloomy like usual in the morning and he pretended like the owls weren't there when he got himself some cereal. Even if one of the owls had continuously bitten him when he picked up the spoon, he would just shrug and then glance at Meadow that was pacing back and forth in the kitchen. She glanced at her brother, then at the owl and then at the other owl. It took her a little while before she spotted that the owls had brought with them some sort of letter that was laying on the counter.

Meadow strode towards the counter in curiosity and picked up the letter or actually the two letters and thought she was seeing things when it was addressed to her and the other letter was addressed to AJ. They would never get letters or even mail since their mom was always the one who would take care of such things.

"Hey AJ, look at this", she said holding the letter tightly in her hand before she smacked it in front of the cereal bowl. The owl was quick enough to fly away before Meadow would accidentally hit it. "Sorry", she mouthed at the owl and it almost seemed like the owl had bowed at her. A moment went pasted and the owls then flew across the room and then out the opened kitchen window. While Meadow had been looking at the owl's AJ had picked up the envelope with an amused glare.

"Interesting indeed, it says that the letters are from Hogwarts and I quite enjoy this logo or whatever it is. Look it's a badger, a lion, an eagle and a snake.", AJ told after he waltzed to the kitchen sink and placed his bowl into it.

"Shall we wait for mom to wake up before we open them, or should we just open them up now?", asked Meadow already knowing the answer to her question. She would rather not wake up her mom at these early hours when she knew her mother had a rough and exhausting week. Being a firefighter that works hard for making sure that everyone is doing alright even in the darkest times, couldn't be easy, thought Meadow with a smile appearing on her lips. She was incredibly proud of having such a hard-working mother. Maybe one day she would follow in her mother footsteps and work as a firefighter. After all, that is what Meadow's and AJ's older sibling, Jayden had done.
A sound came present from the stairs and the twins now turned their head towards the sound, to see their mom yawning but still had the brightest smile carrying with her.

"Good morning Kiddos", she told while she rushed towards them making sure to give them both a hug and then sneak ruffle both of their hairs. None of them minded since they haven't even thought of brushing their hair yet.
AJ glanced at Meadow and Meadow glanced at him, and this continued for a while before one of them spoke up.

"Mom look what came in the mail", Meadow spoke and AJ followed after her words.

"More like it was two owls that had somewhat managed to get in here and they carried with them letters or envelopes or whatever these things are called", retorted AJ in curiosity at the same moment he held the thingy above his head. Skyler's eyes went wide in surprise and it was obvious that it had caught her a little of guard. She remembered that her significant other had shown her his letter that he had gotten when he was younger.
A smile, a smile that can only be described like joy at the highest point was present at Skyler's lips and trust Meadow when she says it, her mother's smile is utterly contagious.

"Well go on then, open them shouldn't you? Trust me when I say this everything is basically going to be turned rather upside down and then return into the normal state, well just a little tinted. Remember back when you were kids and you two figured out that you were werewolves. Well you two aren't just werewolves, blimey you two munchkins are so much more than typical werewolves.", Skyler announced and now it was Meadow and AJ's turn to get eyes wide in surprise.

"Are we like Stormy?", Meadow suddenly thought coming up with the most unormal werewolf she could find. Stormy the girlfriend of Jayden. Skyler quickly shook her head in response.

"Nah, nobody can be like Stormy, everyone knows that", she uttered looking at two nearby chairs around the dining table and she pointed at the chairs and it didn't take the twins seconds before they sat down.
"You two are more like your sister Annabelle except a little different.", Skyler mentioned and AJ was unsure what to think. His older sister Annabellle was a witch but did that mean. Oh Merlin, could it be that he was a wizard? Strange was all that Meadow could think of.

"Oh ok", was all AJ told before he glanced at the marble table, tracing after some lines before he stared back at his sister and then at his mom who was listening closely.
"I mean it wasn't like we didn't know about Hogwarts and all the magic stuff going on in the world.", AJ suddenly continued, turning tables in every direction and now Skyler almost fell off her chair. She hadn't told them about it. Skyler thought for a moment and then she realised how AJ has known about Hogwarts the school of wizarding and witchcraft.

"What have I told you two about searching the attic? Secrets live up there so they can eventually sleep until someone would stumble across them like you two obviously did", she said ruffling AJ's hair who grunted slightly.

"So our dad really was a wizard?", Meadow asked and her mom nodded in response. "You always told us bed stories about our dad's adventures at this school called Hogwarts. I personally thought it was something you found up but when I think about it, a school for magic doesn't stand out that much considering how strange the world is.", Meadow told and her mom mimicked AJ and started tracing the marble lines.

"Anyways those very letters mean that you two have been accepted into the school and that means you two having to leave and live at the school and that means me being here alone", Skyler muttered a little sad but she quickly shrugged it off. Her happiness wasn't the most important. As long as her kids would be happy the Skyler would be happy all day long.

"Why can't we do magic as Annabelle does with spells?", AJ questioned and then it struck him. Aha, he obviously is missing something, a fricking wand. How could he be so stupid? Well, Annabelle can do magic without a wand but AJ remembered that he had found a wand up in the attic while he was peeking through some boxes. It was probably his fathers' wand.
"A wand I remember", he retorted himself.

Meadow didn't have enough energy to wait anymore. She quickly opened up the envelope to discover a letter written in beautiful handwriting. AJ did the same thing and their mom was right like always. They are accepted into Hogwarts and everything is going to change into the stranger.
