Chapter 50 Merry Christmas

"Hey Starr, can we please play with Snowball for a little. Pretty please, you know I love that coyote", Nyx begged the second he had barged into Meadow's bedroom with a hurried knock. He did surprisingly get quite good along with Snowball which was the youngest and only white coyote they had on the wildlife sanctuary. Snowball was six and a half months old and she adored playing in the snow, which was exactly where she got her name from. Snowball had an enclosure with Baelfire and they were siblings and luckily Bhoot was allowed to stay with them. They weren't very territorial coyotes when it came to dogs but with wolves, they could get on cold terms.
The second Nyx had met the coyotes, Snowball tackled him to the ground and started licking his face which indicated that she liked him.

"You're gonna call me Starr now?", she asked brightly. Her friends had their nicknames, Tycho called her Dove, Rio would sometimes call her Medi or Sunny and now Nyx began to call her Starr after her middle name.

"Yup, it suits you well but c'mon, it's snow outside and Snowball loves hunting snow and it's hilarious watching her jumping after the snowflakes.", Nyx told hyper and Meadow giggled. Was it only her or had he started a habit of giving her compliments?

"Well Dyxie, fine we can go outside", she said smiling. She found a nickname for Nyx and she had struggled so long on doing so but recent information changed that.

"Dyxie", he asked confused and the smile on Meadow turned into a grin.

"It's a mix between your name and demi because well you are demigod", she explained as she took her blue winter jacket with purple stars and snowflakes from her closet.

"Alright, that makes sense but have you seen the rest of our friends. I have searched the whole bloody house and asked your mom like ten times on where they are but I still haven't found them", Nyx complained and she truly understood why she couldn't find the others. They weren't even here at the property.

"That's because Tycho wanted to personally deliver his Christmas present to his family so they went to his house. I stayed behind because Stormy needed a little help with watching both Ardale and making the Christmas dinner at the same time.", Meadow told softly. Ardale could be a tiny bit of a troublemaker and they could get a horrible tantrum if they didn't get enough attention.

"Is that the only reason why you stayed behind?", Nyx asked and she choked on her breath. Uhm, what did he just say?

"Yeah...Dyxie that's the only reason why I stayed behind but are we going outside or not?", she muttered holding a straight face. She didn't only stay behind because of the Christmas dinner or Ardale. After what she overheard yesterday she didn't want Nyx to be all alone so she was there for him if and whenever he needed her.

Three hours later they were all sitting gathered together around the dining table that had plenty of room for them all.
The Turkey was settled down at the middle of the table and Meadow couldn't wait to dig in. Turkey was her alter favourite and especially with the stewing that her mom makes but this year she gave the job with the stewing to Tycho and that was surprising, that she trusted someone with such a huge responsibility. Jayden had their own roasted salmon dinner since they didn't eat meat.

"So I just wanted to declare that I'm grateful for having such amazing friends, a wonderful mom and two older siblings that are cool and yes I'm calling you my sibling now Stormy. I'm also happy that I and AJ's dad was friends with one of our professors because of that, I have gotten away with lots of trouble already", Meadow explained brightly. Since the family wasn't religious they instead went around the table and told everyone what they were grateful for, something that bothered them or whatever people had on their chest.

"Haha, you're at least lucky, Snape doesn't like me much so well at least you have a get out of detention card", Hyperion added bluntly. They didn't know why but ever since they started at Hogwarts, Snape had given them a cold shoulder and that would be explainable if he knew who their father was but the point was that he didn't.

"Well every Professor has their favourite, me and Jayden were lucky to be one of them back at our school. Gosh, I miss Paul, the only person I miss back at school was him our teacher. Everyone else was jocks", Stormy commented and Jayden smiled. Stormy wasn't exactly the person to start a conversation and they needed time to get known with people before she truly showed who she was.

"Anyways Meadow you started with the family tradition already. For our newcomers, we have this tradition to say something we are happy about, or proud, or grateful or whatever we have on our hearts that we wanted to share.", Skyler told brightly and she glanced at Nyx who was sitting next to AJ and Stormy was sitting next to him.
"Well, I go second since my lovely daughter couldn't wait. Nevertheless, I just wanted to say that I'm thankful for my children for being such kind people and their friends for taking care of my two youngest. Also, I wanted to thank Jayden for literally saving my life last month in that hotel fire. I wouldn't have made it out if it wasn't for you and I'm forever thankful for that", she continued switching her gaze over at her oldest child which of course was sitting across Stormy. Last month it was a fire which she recruited to and when she was going to evacuate the seventh floor, the floor collapsed beneath and if it wasn't for the bravery of Jayden, that dragged her up even though they was given orders to leave the building at all costs. Skyler was the captain of her fire department and she was quite proud of that. Firefighters usually was a man dominated job but she wanted to change that.

"I shall probably go next then", Jayden started when all eyes were on them. "I'm grateful that I have such an amazing family that understands me and a beautiful girlfriend who always makes me smile and an adorable little munchkin who makes my day brighter than ever", they continued and Ardale giggled. They were sitting on the edge of the table in a toddler chair, waiting for desserts and to rip open presents.

"I just wanted to tell you guys that I can never thank you guys enough for opening your home for me and I'm in joy for my best friends showing light at the end of the tunnel.", Nyx announced joyfully and he made sure to look at Meadow before he switched his gaze to Skyler.

"And I'm grateful for having magnificent friends and siblings and I wish that my parents could start acting like adults", Tycho told a snitch annoyed. He had ran into his parents later today and he didn't want to talk to them, not after what they did to Esme.

"I'm just grateful that I got invited here since Christmas has been pretty lonely ever since my dad was sent to prison for something he didn't do", Rio admitted humble.

"I am glad that everyone is gathered here and I can't believe that I and Meadow were lucky to get such incredible kind friends. Also, I wanted to personally thanks the chefs, Stormy, Tycho and Meadow for making this wonderful looking meal and I can't wait for the food", AJ said optimistically and Stormy gave an approving nod.

"Well, it leaves me then. I'm very happy that I have such a kind family here that takes care of me, a magical child and the chance to meet some very amazing people", Stormy explained smiling. She couldn't wait until the gifts because she had something very special to give.

"That was wonderful words said by everyone and so let's dig in", Meadow claimed and Skyler shrugged, her daughter was sure a foodie and she didn't get that from her mom.

"Lend me the potatoes would you?", asked Nyx and Meadow gladly gave him the bowl of potatoes. They had gotten way better friends ever since the train ride and she loved being around him since he was such an incredible person to be around.

"So...I just wanted to ask if it's okay if I spend Christmas tomorrow back home...Uhm I managed to convince my parents to give my sister a chance to show them who she is and my little sister Mika really wants me to stay for Christmas and I would love to stay here but-", Tycho ranted and he was going to rant more if Skyler didn't interrupt him.

"Of course you can spend Christmas with your family since it's Christmas here already so I don't see any reason why you can't", Skyler explained cheerfully and Tycho grinned. He sincerely saw the resemblance between Skyler and the twins, they were all so cheerful and kind.

"Okay this is fantastical, extraordinarily delicious, especially the stewing", Meadow told and looked at Tycho.

"It's a secret family recipe and I'm glad that you guys liked it", he replied happily. Fabian had thought him when he was younger since Fabian was extremely good at making food. He was ten years older than him so you could say that he was a grown adult but he stilled lived with his parents and that was many reasons for it. Fabian used to travel around most of his time due to work. His work was that he discovered dragons around the world with his co-worker Charles Weasley. Recently he was in Romania finding information on the flaming creatures.
