68 - Gone / Doors

The glowing orb was about to complete the sealing symbol before it stopped dead in its track.

Everything went silent as Kevin and Jayden witnessed Lauren being stabbed in the back.

The sword entered her right shoulder, causing blood to stream down to her feet.

Her eyes shot open but there was no human expression of pain in her pale, spiritless body.

With a sudden urge to return to its owner, the glowing orb shook violently and launched itself straight at Lauren.

And since the glowing orb never reached the sealing symbol, the symbol faded into nothing. Years of work; gone.

"Serrator's sword sure does come in handy." Velos smiled as he held Lauren's unconscious body, leaving the sword in her shoulder. "We meet again black ranger."

"Lauren!" Jayden bellowed out her name, his rage allowing him to stand up.

Xandred was very pleased that the black ranger was struck down.

"Let's go!" Octoroo pushed Xandred's stiff body towards a crevice.

"Oh no, you don't!" Kevin ran after the two, preparing to attack with the power of his swordfish zord.

However, Octoroo finished off Kevin with a series of blasts from his staff, then quickly tucked Xandred into the crevice.

"Ha ha!" Velos was pleased with how things turned out.

"Put her down you fucking creep!" Mike entered the scene, jumping at Velos with his spear.

However, Velos was able to fend him off using his bow as a shield.

"I guess you're not giving me a choice." Velos put Lauren down to focus both of his hands on his weapon.

As Velos shot arrows at the green ranger, he blocked or sliced each one of them with his spear.

After Velos ran out of arrows, Mike kicked his head and then slashed him with his sword.

"What energy!" Velos laughed. "I've had enough fun today. I'll take my leave."

What Velos intended to do was done, so he jumped out of Mike's range in preparation to escape through a crevice.

"You can keep Serrator's sword." Velos waved before leaving.

Mike rushed to Lauren, petrified. Velos never pulled Serrator's sword out of Lauren, which probably would have killed her if he did.

It gave Mike a strange inkling that he wanted her alive.

Octoroo lowered Master Xandred into the Sansu River. "He'll heal much faster if he is fully submerged."

"I don't want to heal him." Velos sucked his teeth.

"Ooh ahh ooh, it's too late. You need to hold your end of the bargain. You wouldn't have defeated Serrator without my assistance." Octoroo reminded him.

Octoroo didn't like Velos, but he hated Serrator even more.

"Also, Master Xandred is already here, so you can't just kick him out of this world." Octoroo finally settled himself down in a corner.

"Ooh ahh ooh! Master Xandred was so happy to see you stab the black ranger. You saved his life so he'll look upon you favorably." Octoroo blabbed on. "You, of course, killed her right?"

"Did I?" Velos used his powers to replenish his arrow supply.

"Ooh ahh ooh! You must be joking! You had the opportunity to end the black ranger! The rangers' only way of defeating Master Xandred! And you did not take it! Ooh aah ooh! Are you mad?" Octoroo's blood boiled.

"I remember the last time I wanted Xandred to trust me, and it didn't work because of his own stupidity. Maybe it's better to manipulate him somehow... to keep him in fear."

"And risk everything?! What do you even plan to do now that Master Xandred is out?! Ooh ahh ooh! There's nothing you can do! If you want something done, you should have killed the black ranger or Master Xandred while the door was open! How foolish of you to waste an opportunity!"

"You're the type of weakling to say one door closes, another door opens." Velos took his seat in Master Xandred's corner. "If you disregard all doors, the possibilities are endless."
