Centuries ago, Master Xandred threatened the human world with hopes to conquer it. He wanted to lay waste to this world so that the nighlok could roam among it.

The six rangers (red, yellow, green, blue, pink, and black) fended off the nighlok with all of their might. But regardless of their triumphs, they could not defeat Master Xandred.

That was all until the rangers found a glimmering spark of hope; they could create a sealing symbol using the black ranger's dark symbol power.

By fighting darkness with darkness, Xandred would be sealed away, and the ties between both worlds would be severed.

With little time, the black ranger began to hone their skills, training hard for Xandred's next attack.

On the day Master Xandred appeared, the black ranger performed the sealing symbol... and it was a success!

However, the symbol was imperfect. It didn't deal any damage towards Xandred and wasn't strong enough to seal the beast for long.

The rangers now understood that the seal would require an intense amount of symbol power. So once again, the black ranger trained to perfect it.

Worried about Xandred's next return, the red ranger also began working on the black box. The content within the black box remains a mystery to this day.

It only took Xandred a couple of months to return. After being sealed away, he was furious.

Xandred refused to let the black ranger live. If the black ranger developed their power further, it would not go well for the nighlok.

By Xandred's command, the nighlok massacred the Kuro Clan (the black ranger's clan) to make sure that there wouldn't be another heir... and it was a success...

On the day of the massacre, the disheveled black ranger went into hiding. And the other rangers killed many powerful nighlok.

However, the black box was damaged and lost.

Years passed and the nighlok still hunted for the black ranger, having many close calls.

It seemed the only way they could get to the black ranger was if they forced them out of hiding.

And so, Master Xandred fought the rangers and tormented them until the black ranger appeared.

No one was there to witness what happened between Xandred and the black ranger.

Though in the end, Master Xandred was sealed for a second time and the black ranger was dead.

The black ranger's samuraizer and zord were lost as well.

Though life became quieter without Xandred, there was a great uneasiness. With the end of the Kuro lineage and the loss of the black ranger's gear, who would stop Xandred in his next return?

As generations passed, samurai rangers and monks had been researching ways to perfect the black ranger's sealing symbol.

This way, when they found the black ranger's possessions, a new black ranger could be trained.

The monks reached a theory; the Sealing Spirit Symbol, in which conjoining the sealing symbol with a strong spirit would increase its effectiveness.
