8 - Red Eyes / Take A Hit 🔺

The sky was crimson red over the Sansu River. Master Xandred's ship was floating in the

Amarex staggered into the water of human tears. The foul water soothed and healed her body.

For a moment, she was in peace. That was until she met Koruptorem.

Koruptorem was just as loyal to Master Xandred as he was sinister.

"You've been banished." Koruptorem appeared before Amarex. "Your death shall come with your return"

"Wait! Koruptorem!" Amarex pleaded.

"Call me Kotek."

"You can't kill me! I had captured the green ranger and injured all of the rangers!" Amarex tried reasoning with him.

"So what? I poisoned the red ranger and I almost killed the yellow ranger!" Kotek raised his sword against Amarex. "You're such an ugly Nighlok. No wonder your power is about cloning others."

"Please! No!" Amarex let out her final words.

A week has passed. The rangers have been recovering from their injuries and were all well enough to fight. They all had yet to see Amarex.

Jayden and Kevin had battled moogers together. Their battle was a success, however, Jayden seemed awfully different to Kevin.

Jayden seemed brutal in that fight. As they traveled home, he seemed cold and distant.

"Jayden, are you alright?" Kevin asked. "You don't seem like yourself."

"Mind your business Kevin." Jayden seemed pissed off.

He had never acted like that before. Even if Jayden often dealt with things on his own, he was never rude and unfriendly towards the other rangers.

"Jayden! I've been working on a new move!" Mike was excited. "Want to take a hit for me?"

It was night and they were in the dojo, wearing their training gear. They had been working on their own thing until Mike broke the silence between them.

Mia had just entered the dojo.

"No." Jayden replied without any interest.

"Come on! Please!!!" Mike begged.

Jayden's eyes turned red as he grunted with annoyance. Of course, the other two rangers couldn't see his red eyes.

"Do it." He got into a defensive stance.

Mike flipped up into the air and was about to kick him, but Jayden grabbed and twisted his foot. He quickly pulled Mike's foot down, causing him to land hard on his lower back.

"Agh! What was that for?!" Mike said before Jayden instantly lifted him up by his shirt and punched him across the face.

He was about to throw another punch before Mia grabbed his fist.

"What the fuck are you doing man?!" Mike freed himself from his grip with an angry shove. "I'm going to take a shower."

Mike stormed off while fighting the urge to limp.

Jayden began to storm off to his room.

"Jayden!" Mia called out to him with an upset tone as she followed him.

He entered his room and rudely slammed the door behind him.

Mia entered Jayden's room and closed the door behind her.

"Jayden." Her voice was lower and firm, with a note of anger.

"Leave, I'm changing." Jayden decided to pull his shirt off.

Mia looked away for a second, then refocused herself. It wasn't like she had not already seen him shirtless countless times as he was training.

"Please, you have to tell me what's going on." Mia looked dead into Jayden's eyes and demanded. "Why would you hurt Mike like that?"

"Going hard on someone makes them stronger." He made an excuse.

"Yes, in a way that is sensible, not brutal." Mia scoffed at his reasoning. "You know, Mentor is hard on us from a place of love. It should be like that. Not attacking someone out of the blue!"

"So," Jayden approached Mia and invaded her space. His eyes were becoming increasingly red.

She tried to push him and run out but he grabbed her and pinned her against the wall with a bang.

"Should I be hard on the one I love?" Jayden's gaze was piercing as he spoke in a low and raspy voice.

Mia was showing fear. She knew that a flip switched in him, and she was correct. It was just that she couldn't see that she was correct because the redness of Jayden's eyes were not visible to her. They seemed blue as normal to her.

In this position, she felt so frail and helpless. And yet, he smirked as she cowered.
