"Just trust me!" Antonio dragged Lauren along a wooden boardwalk.

"You told me that there was something wrong with the gap sensor in this area." Lauren gazed over at the horizon through the wind. "You said nothing about fishing."

Other than Jayden, Antonio was the one Lauren trusted the most. But now she was second guessing herself.

"You'll love it." Antonio attached bait to the hook of a fishing rod before handing it to her.

More and more, Antonio understood why Jayden wanted everyone to befriend her. She had spent her life locked away to train, which became natural to her.

After watching her flail the fishing rod hopelessly, Antonio finally stood behind her, adjusting her grip on the rod.

"You're holding it wrong. Hold the rod tightly with your right hand, and use you left hand to reel it in." Antonio told her.

"I'm left handed."

"Ah, well this is a right handed rod, sorry." Antonio scratched his head.

"Try casting it like this." Antonio whipped his own rod, the hook flying far out into the ocean. The way he casted his rod looked professional and easy for him.

Lauren was able to mimic his movements well, casting her rod decently enough.

"Nice!"

"Now what do we do?"

"Now we wait."

"What's the point of this?"

"Well it's fun." Antonio smiled upon the thought of lounging by the water. "I love the open air and the view by the water."

Lauren looked out to the ocean, as if she was trying to see what Antonio saw in it.

But she didn't feel some type of way when looking at the gray sky and the endless body of saltwater.

Antonio watched as the wind tossed Lauren's short hair into her face, then away. Her cheeks and the tip of her nose was slightly pink due to the chilly weather.

Her lips sat in a frown as she peered down at where her fishing line met the water.

"You never know when a fish will take your bait. And once they do, you've got to fight to reel them in." Antonio spoke fondly. "I tend to think I've got the edge, but I still find myself losing and learning more."

"Sometimes I walk away with a ton of fish. Sometimes a little, or none. But what really makes me happy is when I serve what I caught."

"The one who took care of me when I was young loved to fish. And he took me with him very often. He's done so much for me that I could never possibly thank him enough. But now he's out there traveling the world and I really miss him."

There was something about Lauren that made it easy to overspill, whether it was her silence, her willingness to listen, or the comfortable space she created effortlessly.

Lauren had no strong opinions or judgment. And whenever she listened to someone, she was attentive in a caring way, even if she was bored of fishing.

"What do you like to do?" Antonio asked after realizing he had been going on about himself.

"I don't know." Lauren leaned against the boardwalk's railing.
