20 - Exterrex / Dreary 🔺

"Ugh!" Emily got slashed and pushed down by a mooger. Blood slipped down her forearm and dropped off her elbow.

"Get your head in the game Emily!" Kevin shouted at her as he fought off moogers. He could tell that Emily was distracted since her hesitation got her injured.

Since it wasn't a lethal attack, Emily got back up. She could barely concentrate on the battle.

Thoughts of her sister, Serena, rushed through her mind. Her instincts told her something was wrong and it made her paranoid.

What made Emily even more frustrated was her sensitivity showing on the battlefield, making her distracted and weak.

Just then, a Nighlok approached them.

She looked like a knight with polished white armor with black and gray accents as a her skin. Her sword was pitch black and curved, just like the long pony tail from her helmeted head.

"I'm excited to see you." The Nighlok sneered at the two rangers. "I'm Exterrex, your most atrocious nightmare."

"Moogers! Step aside!" Exterrex commanded. "I thought there were 6 of you, but I guess knocking a couple off at a time won't hurt. Come at me if you can rangers."

Emily decided to take her frustration out on the Nighlok and charged straight at her. However, she took Exterreri's bait.

Exterrex raised her sword and a beam of light struck Emily's head.

Emily stopped moving and fell to her knees with the beam of light still locked on her head. Emily screamed from the pain within her head.

"As you can tell, this isn't a physical attack, yellow ranger." Exterrex smirked. "I'm using your own mind against you!"

Soon, the beam of light died out, releasing Emily from the pain.

Kevin ran up to her and helped her up. She was disoriented and dizzy.

"Hmm, you don't seem to have many dark secrets for me to exploit... Next!" Exterrex aimed her sword at the blue ranger.

A beam of light hit Kevin straight at his head.

The beam of light didn't seem to faze Kevin very much and faded away.

"What?! Impossible!"

Through her dizziness, Emily tossed her Earth Slicer at the Nighlok, who was distracted by the blue ranger.

It successfully knocked the Nighlok's sword out of her hand and away from her.

"You fucking wretch!" Exterrex desperately ran to get her sword.

As Exterrex was about to grab her sword, it was knocked further away by an arrow as she was about to grab it.

Kevin had shot the sword with his Hydro Bow.

Exterrex growled with frustration as she noticed the green, pink, and red ranger enter the scene.

Mike ran to Emily and quickly helped her balance herself as she felt lightheaded.

Mia noticed that Exterrex was trying to retake the black sword that was hit across the floor.

As a result, Mia picked up the black sword. Suddenly she was shocked by a wave of light, causing her head to ache.

"Ahhh!" Mia dropped the sword and fell to her knees.

The Nighlok took this opportunity to snatch her sword and escape through a crack.

"What the heck was that power?" Mike was piggybacking Emily into the Shiba House.

Emily was awake and not in any pain, but too disoriented to function. She wanted to fall asleep but couldn't.

"I don't know." Jayden had Mia on his back. They had all entered the house and closed the door behind them.

"It doesn't seem to impact Kevin as much." Jayden looked at him.

"I mean, I feel a bit strange, but it's not that bad." Kevin explained.

    All of the rangers went their separate ways. Kevin going to his room to make an exception to his schedule and sleep off the strange feeling.

Jayden hesitated to lay Mia down on her bed. She had already stolen his body warmth. Plus, her hair smelled good.

    But he would be lying if he denied that he just enjoyed holding her.

Mia was already doing too much for someone recovering from a concussion. The impacted she took from the Exterrex's sword must've hurt a lot.

    Terry watched by the door as the red ranger put his sister down extra gently and tucked her in comfortably.

    When Emily has woken up from her sleep in the morning, the first thing she did was prepare to visit her sister. Mia wanted to join her, so they went together.

    Emily was glad to see that her "instincts" from earlier were off and nothing had gone wrong with Serena.

Mia left the sisters alone to visit Antonio.

    Antonio has been unconscious since his injury. He needed to recover from the physical trauma and blood loss.

Mia entered Antonio's hospital room. Everything was white and baby blue, from the walls to Antonio's hospital gown. The room felt dreary under the fluorescent lighting.

The doctors had been completely shocked by Antonio's injury, but it made sense when the rangers gave them their cover up story.

    They claimed that Antonio was hiking in the forest until he was suddenly attacked by a nighlok. It wasn't very far from the truth.

Mia sat by Antonio's bed. She couldn't take the sight of Antonio's pale face and the wires that stringed him to beeping machines.

Antonio was always cheerful. It was heartbreaking to see him so lifeless.

As Mia pulled his blanket from his waist to his chest, she could've sworn saw his eyelashes flutter from the corner of her eyes.

She tilted her head towards him to see his tired eyes locked onto her.
