"You're the yellow ranger, right?" A student spoke nervously to Emily as he entered Terry's room. "I'm here to help you watch over Terry."

"Yes, I'm Emily." She greeted him kindly, calming his nerves. "It's nice to have company."

Talking to a ranger seems intimidating when you don't know them personally. It's always a pleasant surprise to find that they don't seem cold or somber.

"I'm Ren." He reciprocated Emily's smile and took a seat on a cushion by her.

They introduced themselves further and had small talk before landing on the topic of the monks.

"This is probably the first time in history the monks and rangers disputed." Ren seemed very knowledgeable of the samurai history and was intrigued by the current situation. As a student of Daisuke, this was expected.

"If I'm being honest, I don't know who to side with." Ren decided to speak his truth, even if it was obvious who Emily sides with.

"I get what you mean." Emily sighed. "The monks and mentors are our leaders. They've been working just as hard as us. I never would have imagined going against their word."

"But I know the monks have regrets after witnessing what our parents went through until their deaths. They probably forgot that we're younger and quite burned out at this point. Sometimes it can feel like they don't care about us and just want the world saved already." Emily told Ren, who listened intently.

She wasn't trying to convince him of anything, merely giving her point of view.

"I see." Ren nodded to himself. He couldn't think of anything else to say before the sunlight shining on Terry's face distracted him.

"I'll close the curtain." Emily noticed it too and stood up before Ren could.

She brought both ends of the curtain together then turned to Terry to see if the sunlight was beaming at his face.

That was when a great crash resounded in the room, with the twinkling clatter of broken glass hitting the ground.

A masculine figure had bursted through the window, kicking Emily down with his foot following her upper back to the floor.

Ren froze. He was in pure disbelief to what he just witnessed.

Emily was awfully still under the intruder's foot, making Ren worry that she was knocked out.

Shivering with fear, Ren quickly rushed to the room's alarm by the door. He was reaching for it when suddenly a knife ran into it, flying from the intruder's hand.

Ren instinctively withdrew his hand, which was about to grab onto the now functionless alarm. His heart pounded out of control, thinking about what could've happened if he made it there quicker.

There seemed to be no other choice but to run and make as much noise as possible. But if he tried to run, would the next knife be aimed at him?

The intruder stepped off of Emily and rushed to grab Terry. He snatched Terry of the bed, but before he could get anywhere, Emily's fist clocked his jaw.
