"Did you see the sofas in the living room?" Daisuke asked Emily excitedly. "I've had them cleaned out and brought over from the Shiba House. I'm glad that not everything got destroyed in the fire."
"I haven't seen them yet, but thank you Daisuke san. You didn't have to go through so much trouble." Emily thanked him.
It was sweet that Daisuke was trying to make the rangers happy, even if the sofas went against the traditional furnishing of the Watanabe house.
"You're very welcome. I know you're tired now, but please take a look when you get the chance." Daisuke went off to his gardens, which had begun to fall asleep since the weather began colder.
With nothing better to do, Emily decided to take a look at them and headed to the living room.
Her arm was still in a sling after her shoulder was dislocated.
The doctors said that she only had to wear the sling for one more week. But even after that, she had to avoid lifting heavy things and physical activities for over a month.
This was why she stayed behind as the 4 rangers went on their kidnapping mission.
Honestly, Emily was surprised that everyone took Daisuke seriously when he said kidnap her.
She worried about how things would turn out as she awaited their return.
When Emily entered the living room, the first thing she noticed was Jayden. He had been sitting there with baby Aika sleeping in his arms.
Aika had grown slightly since the last time Emily saw her.
The second thing she noticed were the two coffee colored sofas.
They were from a part of the house the rangers didn't often use, but they still brought the bittersweet and nostalgic feeling of the Shiba House.
Without thinking much, Emily took a seat on the floor by Jayden's legs, resting her head on the arm of the sofa. She had gotten used to sitting on the floor anyway.
"That baby always pulls your hair, then she falls asleep." Emily's tone was soft and quiet.
"But she's sweet." Jayden whispered, unable to help but smile.
"When did you become an adoring, googly eyed parent." Emily shifted her gaze to the ceiling, beginning to feel drowsy.
"Since I became the leader of the samurai." Jayden replied cleverly.
"Witty." Emily chuckled, admiring his response. "...These sofas bring back memories, don't they?"
"They do." Jayden sighed. Reuniting with a piece of his former home made him sentimental.
"Even though the Shiba House burned down 30 chapters ago, it still saddens me as if it happened yesterday." Jayden looked at Aika, making sure that his conversation wasn't disturbing her sleep.
To his relief, she was still comfortably sleeping.
Everyone knew Jayden went through a tough time when the Shiba House caught on fire, but he still suppressed his emotions.
"When they finish rebuilding it, I'm sure much of it won't change. In fact, they'll make the house stronger than it was before." Emily tried to comfort him.
She worried that her words were too optimistic to be a consolation as Jayden smiled faintly.
He was grateful that people were actively working to restore his home, but he still missed it.
