Mike set Emily onto her feet, turning to count the total amount of opponents before them. It seemed they were surrounded by 17 black clad, all armed with swords.

It became even more clear that they couldn't beat the numbers, unless they resorted to using a level of power that was only meant to combat nighlok. Power that could kill humans.

"Mike, let them take me." Emily grabbed onto his sleeve and begged. "You have to stay safe and come back later."

"Em..." Mike looked into Emily's worried eyes, keeping ahold of her wrists.

She was sincerely concerned for him, but Mike had already made up his mind long ago. Escaping with Emily was most ideal, no matter how unrealistic.

"I can't leave you." Mike stubbornly settled into his fighting stance, taking out his forest spear once again.

"Mike, you know it's the only way." Emily also prepared to fight with her spinsword. But she worried that if Mike didn't escape, neither of them would. "As a ranger, we-"

"No, fuck that." Mike stood his ground.

He knew what the right course of action was as a samurai, but he couldn't bring himself to leave without Emily and save himself.

How could he settle for such a pathetic solution?

Half of the black clad approached the two rangers in preparation to fight as the other half took a few steps back.

The faction up front began to attack the rangers, forcing them to dodge attacks from every angle.

It was impossible for the rangers to maintain their defense, especially with only one of them morphed.

With ease, the black clad teamed up on Emily first and pulled her out of Mike's vicinity.

"Don't touch her!" Mike tried to push through to get to her, but he was caught up dodging and clashing with the enemies before him.

Through his plight, he caught a bloody glimpse of Emily as she was kicked down and tied up.

Seeing her so helplessly out of reach was shocking to him. He felt so useless that he couldn't believe the situation was real.

As from the beginning, Mike was completely vulnerable to the black clad, who had teamed up on him.

They forced him to drop him forest spear before each of his limbs were restricted by an enemy. Fear began to settle in his head, making him tremble as he anticipated their next move.

As he was fully aware of his fear and weakness, he felt ashamed.

After the seal was put up, he continued to train to show up for his team. Yet he was confronting  the same issues; poor choices, fear, and weakness.

Without warning, Mike felt a sword lacerate his back, from his shoulder to his lower back. Screaming from the pain, he lost strength and demorphed.

Mike gasped as he realized that it might just be over for the two of them. Being forced to demorph meant that he lost the symbol power and energy necessary to maintain his ranger form.

In other words, he couldn't morph back.

As Mike curled and winced, the black clad began to secure ropes around his limbs.

Breathing heavily, Mike turned over to look at Emily, only to see the black clad handling her awfully.

After pulling the rope around her wrists mindlessly tight, they kicked her over to tie her legs, causing her to hit her head on the floor.
