A/N: Here's a new long(er) one shot, I was watching New Girl and yeah... also there are inconsistencies, I am aware, I'm too stressed with my actual everyday life to go fix them, so I'm sorry. Also if you could please refrain from saying anything about said inconsistencies, I would appreciate that very much. Happy reading!

Annabeth settled in at her desk like very other morning. She set her thermos at her right side, for easy access while resting her writing hand, and her reading glasses on the bridge of her nose. Right over the light splash of freckles that prove she wasn't always such a nerd in her days.

Sure, she's not the most popular, nor the most approachable teacher, but she has a select few of students that have her back. Despite being their math teacher she likes to think they have a cool, 'hip' bond.

She didn't need other teachers, she had her loyal students.

At least until one fateful winter morning. In fact it was the morning after Thanksgiving break, everyone was tired, and worn out despite the week and a half they had off.

Annabeth had been on her way to the Teacher's Lounge to drop her thermos in the wash before it got put on that morning, when she bumped right into who she thought was some asshole jock student.

"Sorry, Miss."

"Just scurry off to your second period."

"I'm a little lost, I'm supposed to be teaching Marine 101 next period but it's different from the first room, and I have no idea where it is and I just started here, and I'm so sorry. At least your mug was empty." He smiled a stupidly charming smile.

"Let's start over." She smiled at him as his shoulders released all the tension in them. "I'm Anna— Miss Chase."

"Percy, Percy Jackson." He held out his hand.

"Annabeth." She blurted.

" 'snice to meet you." When he shook her hand, she felt tingles she hadn't felt since her freshman year of college where she met her now fiancé, Connor.

She was to become Mrs. Connor Stoll by the end of next year. It was exciting... at first at least, when she thought it was actually happening... but that was five years ago. Now, she's just waiting for Connor to agree to a date, so she can do what she does best, not teach, but plan. Man, was she the best at planning or what?

"So?" That shook her out of her head.

"Sorry?"

"Could you tell me where room three o' seven is?"

"Actually, my room is three o' five, you're right next door to me."

"Really? Because I'm in that room the rest of the day. Maybe... maybe we could do lunch?"

"Like a date?"

"Well, I mean I wasn't initially since—" He nodded to the tiny rock on her hand.

"Oh! Oh this? This is— yeah, I'm engaged, but like, not really." She was blubbering over her words like she really was back in high school.

"Alright then. Uh— Room three o' seven?"

"Right! Come along."

She led him to the elevators where she pushed the buttons and he pouted in the elevator.

"What's wrong? This is the elevator! Only the teachers get to use it!" She said it like it was som huge privilege and that the students didn't use it anytime one of them was feeling too lazy to walk up a flight of stairs.
