A/N: First things first, yes this is essentially that part of FRIENDS okay, so any similarities (which there are a plethora of)  are intentional and supposed to be a sort of ~homage~ to FRIENDS. Happy Valentine's Day 🫣👀

Annabeth couldn't take much more of this. The people were rude, the espresso machine hated her, and the boss, Argus, was always looking at her. It felt like the customers were gaslighting her, always saying they ordered something completely different from what she brought them. She has never seen so many people actually care about what they order to the point of sending something back to the kitchen.

Sometimes she swears someone will come up more than once to exchange their order, like, can't they just follow the basic 'you get what you get, and you don't get upset rules' taught in preschool?

"Can I get you guys anything?" Annabeth faked as she saw her friends in their usual spot on the couch.

"Yeah, I'll take a—" Jason started, watching as Annabeth sat on Percy's lap and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.

"I wasn't really asking." Annabeth smiled sarcastically.

"Hi, baby." Percy kissed her.

"Hi." She smiled a bright, blushing smile.

"How's your day been?" Percy asked as he started to play with her hands.

"Exhausting. First someone asked for a scone and then when I brought it to them they said they asked for a different kind of scone like I would actually care what kind of scone they get." Annabeth leaned her head against Percy's, whose hand was rubbing her leg soothingly.

"Maybe pay attention to what they order?" Rachel suggested.

"Wasn't this supposed to be temporary? Like, you've been living with Piper for how long now?" Jason asked, trying to be helpful.

"Two years." Piper deadpanned.

"It has not—"

"Your wedding anniversary is in two days, Beth," Leo smirked, remembering how one of the first things they did as a friend group helped her get over her ex, Luke.

"I don't know what you guys expect from me, we grew up in Long Island, everyone marries an orthodontist."

"Just ask your Mom, right?" Rachel added.

"Yeah, see Rachel gets it."

"I'm going to the bathroom, I had like five Red Bulls today, trying to get through Zeus's bullshit meeting." Percy stood up and walked off to the bathroom.

"You should just quit." Jason said.

"I can't just quit." Annabeth brushed the idea off.

"You need the fear." Leo added

"Yeah without the fear you'll stay at the coffee house forever." Jason suggested.

"I— I don't think it's a good idea, I don't have any leads on a new job, let alone one in architecture."

"It's up to you, but without that fear, you'll never have a reason to quit and go for what you really want." Jason continued.

"You hate your job, why don't you quit?" Annabeth countered.

"Because I'm too scared." Jason smiled.

Annabeth stood up and walked over to her boss, Argus.

"Argus, I quit." She smiled sweetly.

"You what—?" Percy asked as he came out of the bathroom. "How long was I in there?" Percy asked, pointing behind him like he was on a sitcom.
