Kind of a part two to The First Date
Annabeth and Percy are known for their heated conversations, but what happens now that they're dating? As friends they weren't afraid to yell at the other, hades, they went days without talking and would be just mad at each other, but now that their relationship is under a different status what are they supposed to do? The first fight...
Its been two weeks since they declared it official. Two weeks since their bubble kiss. Two weeks since Annabeth decided it was time to talk. Two weeks since Percy told Annabeth about what he saw in the Styx.
They're understandably nervous for their first fight. They feel it looming in the distance. So many times Annabeth wanted to smack him, and then kiss him. He's wanted to scream at her and then kiss her. They settled on kissing— still a little awkward of course, it being a new relationship and all but at any moment one of them will snap. The whole camp can feel it too. They've been preparing themselves, carting food into the cabins, locking up weapons, and warning the nymphs and naiads.
It happened a crisp September morning. Annabeth, being on a strict schedule to keep her life in order, not yet accustomed to Percy's known lateness, perkily knocked three times on his cabin door. No answer. She knocked three times once again. The three knocks always alerted him to her presence, and now he wasn't answering. She would have been terrified if she knew what Hera has in store for them but that's months from now. She knocked again, still, no response.
She looked to her left and then to her right. The entire camp had filed into the dining pavilion by that point. She turned the knob and entered. Clearly Percy wasn't ready and clothing was strewn about and carelessly hung on random items mounted on the walls. She saw a pair of running shorts in the same place last year before her quest in the Labyrinth, it brought back all the upsetting feelings, the kiss that they never fully talked about, and the panic she felt when she thought Percy was dead but he had shown up, looking better than ever two weeks later.
All these emotions swirled together, and the second she saw Percy, all the pent up anger, and past turmoil burst her weakened walls. She smacked him, harder than she probably should have... with a pillow.
"What the fuck?" He said in that morning voice that would later drive her crazy with desire, but they're not there yet.
"What are you doing!? Get up!"
"A-Annabeth? How did you get in here? Why are you here?"
"I came because last night you promised to walk to breakfast together."
"I told you I couldn't because Sunday's are the days I sleep in late."
"No... You promised me Percy, you said that you'd be up and ready to go, because after breakfast we have a combat class to teach."
"I would have never done that. I know myself. I know I like to sleep in on Sunday!"
"Then why did you promise me you would be ready!?"
"I didn't!"
"Yes you did!"
"You drive me bat shit sometimes. Get out."
"Excuse me?"
"I asked you to leave."
"Wait— can we pause this a second? I just wanna make sure you're not breaking up with me?"
"Oh, gods no. I always thought that once we started dating, that that would be it."
"Aww, Percy— I'm still mad at you."
"Fight unpause?"
"Yes you Seaweed Brain!" She whacked him again with a pillow. He grabbed a second pillow and whacked her back. "You can't do that!"
"Why not Wise Girl!?" He whacked her again. When she regained her wits she took a second to appreciate his abs, only to be hit once again with a pillow.
"Because I said so Seaweed Brain!" She whacked him with a pillow.
They whacked each other, almost taking turns until Percy tackled Annabeth on the bed, and they realized what they both wanted but were too scared to do yet. There was an awkward pause of realization until Annabeth wrapped her legs around him and flipped them. Both blushing profusely now, and slightly out of breath Percy couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked, just like in battles when her face gets all flushed and her curls frizz up. He reached his hand up to brush a curl behind her ear. She leaned into his touch, and rested her head in the crook of his neck.
"So that was our first fight?"
"Guess so." She looked at him with this mischievous look in her eyes and kissed him. They were definitely improving, getting to know what each other liked, and what felt right.
"Breakfast?" He smiled cheekily at her.
"Five more minutes..." She yawned and curled into his chest. He kissed the top of her head and felt like he could take on the world.
