A/N: Surprise shawtyyyyyy (barely proofread but has been run through grammarly)

Annabeth knew it had to end. If she had seen it coming at that first hello and knew just how much it would break her, hurt not just herself but both of them, she would have never looked up from her cup. Had she known all this heartbreak would come from a date with another guy....

"My name's Percy, I'll be your server today, can I get you guys started with some drinks?"

"Yes." The man across from her, Luke, his profile said. Twenty-three and currently applying for Harvard law. "She will have tonic water, and I will have a Dirty Shirley."

"Sure thing, be right back with those." Percy said, writing down what looked like scribbles.

"So." Luke asked, looking out the window. "How've you been?"

Luke had always been in her life. He was the jock that ignored her in high school, but now that he was out of college and she was graduating early, she sent him a message online, seeing if he wanted to catch up, and instead, he outright asked her on a date.

"I've been okay." Annabeth said as she unwrapped her napkin from the paper holder and set her unnecessarily heavy silverware down.

"That's good. Very good. Uh— you graduate this year, right?" Luke asked, clasping his hands together and looking out the window as if he wanted to be anywhere that wasn't with her.

"Yeah. Early." Annabeth smiled, trying to keep the mood interesting.

"That's awesome, Anne." Luke's face contorted after he realized it had been slightly longer than an empty diner should take to get drinks together. "Where are our drinks— damn it?" Luke slammed a clenched fist down on the table harder than he meant to since he winced as he picked his back up. "What was our waiter's name? Franklin?" Luke looked frantically between his watch and phone like he would be able to do anything about their waiter.

"Percy." Annabeth corrected softly.

"Percy!" Luke shouted with a cock to his smile.

"Yes, sir, I'm just getting the cherry for your drink." He shouted from behind the diner bar.

"I've got a girl here," Luke chuckled as he snapped his fingers in her face. "They age quicker than men, you know." Luke laughed harder and winked at her.

Percy was over with their drinks within the next minute and smiled charmingly at Annabeth as he placed a coke down in front of her.

"I said water for her."

"Oh, sorry, let me take this back." Percy reached for the cup. Annabeth wrapped her hand around Percy's wrist on instinct.

"No, no, it's fine. I'll drink it." Annabeth smiled nervously and seemed to realize she was still holding Percy's wrist.

"I won't charge you for it. And—and free refills obviously." He chuckled. Slipping back into his work voice, he continued, "Did we get a chance to look over the menu?"

"Sure. I'll take The Hungryman's Special and she'll have a greek salad with extra anchovies."

"Olives." Annabeth corrected.

"We can do both," Percy smiled, trying desperately not to lose his tip.

"Olives will be fine, I actually don't like anchovies." Annabeth let Percy know.

"Me too, but I also kind of hate olives." Percy said as if he were nervous about disagreeing with her now.

"According to this theory, we're a perfect match then." Annabeth said, remembering this theory she read up on after Hazel and Frank got together.
