Lie to me

More of a Drabble but I haven't posted here in forever

Percy didn't understand it. Granted, he believed he was stupid, he's been told that his whole life, but that's not the point right now. He doesn't understand how Annabeth can break up with him, and then act like she's perfectly fine... maybe she is perfectly fine without him. Maybe she meant more to him than he did to her. Maybe. It definitely seemed unlikely.

"What's up your butt?" Rachel nudged him and handed him a beer. He really didn't want to drink right now. He'd probably end like Gabe if he started it now. So he slid it back to her.

"Nothing," he grumbled, as he picked at something stuck to the sticky table in the bar.

"You usually don't say no to a Heineken."

"Well, I was planning on DDing tonight."

"Bull-shit, Grover's credit card got pulled, what's really going on?"

"I just don't get it."

"Get what?"

"Well, you know Annabeth and I broke up, right?"

"Yeah, that's like last week's news though, buddy." Since it happened last week....

"How is she, you know, just flirting with those guys like she didn't just break my heart?"

"I don't know, Perce, people cope in different ways."

"Still, she knows I'm here."

"Sucks, dude, I'm sorry." She patted his shoulder and slid the beer back to him.

"No, Rache, it's a slippery slope."

"It's one drink, Perce, chill out, besides, I hate Heinekens."

"Fine, but I'm only drinking the one."

"O-Kay, Mr. Sobriety.."

He picked it up and took a sip. It went down nicely, it wasn't as smoothe, or satisfying when it hit his belly.

"You feel better?" Rachel smirked as the tension started to leave his shoulders.

He took another swig before answering; "getting there." She gave him a noogie and went to go flirt with some guys herself.

Percy was glad Annabeth was okay, it just sucked for him. There's some guy she's going home with tonight and he'll undress her, and be with her. Percy is going home alone, and probably going to undress himself.

He almost wishes he never met Annabeth, because then he wouldn't feel this pain of missing her. He would try to get with Rachel if she wasn't totally turned off by him. He knows nobody will love him like Annabeth does— did. The way Annabeth loved him.

He sighed with malice in the back of his throat and rested his head on the sticky table.

"You don't get to just watch me, you know." Percy picked his head up and was met with Annabeth's striking gray eyes, almost silver like starlight.

"I wasn't watching you."

"Sure, and you're sober too."

"The only reason I'm drinking is because you're out trying to fuck any guy here except me."

She sat across from him.

"There was a time that you were the only guy I wanted to fuck."

"Do you love me?"

"I—"

"Lie to me?"

"No, I don't love you Percy."

"I asked you to lie, Annabeth," he grumbled.

"I did."

When he picked his head up she wasn't sitting across from anymore. The booth was empty except for him, and her words settled over him.

"Wait—"
***

On his walk home he came across the intersection where if he went straight, he would end up at Annabeth's apartment, if he went to the left he would end up at Rachel's and if he went right he would end up at his own apartment.

Percy ended up at Annabeth's somehow. He was wasted and missed her.. and was at her door, knocking, hoping she had gone home, and that she had gone home alone.

"What!?" Annabeth yelled as she swung the door open in a robe.

"I have some stuff— I need to say."

"Go home, Percy, you're drunk."

"You said you love me."

"You asked me to lie."

"But you said—" he gagged, the nausea taking over already.

"Oh, god, Percy, get in, you look terrible."

He honestly didn't think he looked that bad, but he was never one to go against Annabeth. Especially when she's dragging him into her apartment late at night.

"Who was at the door, babe?" A voice from down the hall called out.

"You have someone here.." he questioned, and felt guilty, because of course she did. She was gorgeous and could have any guy she wanted.

"No, no, that's nobody, okay? Stay here, and just lay down, I'll grab you some water."

He closed his eyes the second she walked away. Something about her leaning over him made the world stop spinning, and he felt okay. The scuffling he heard in the background pounded and made him want to vomit.

"Beth, I'm gonna puke!" He rolled off the couch, making a big thud. His mouth started watering, and his gut clenched, his head was nowhere to be found. He was like a dog on hardwood trying to stand on his feet.

He felt the bile climb his throat, he wasn't going to make it. He closed his eyes and whatever was about to happen was going to happen, she already dumped him, the worst she could do was kick him out on the street.

He puked, but she was there in a flash, with a bucket, and rubbing his back.

"Okay, Percy, it's okay, just breathe, I'll grab you a glass of water." She stood up to get the water, and that was when he had the courage to croak out a 'thank you'.

Then she was helping him stand up, and getting him into her room, changing his clothes that he presumably had puked on, and then getting him into her bed.

"Beth— Annabeth, wait, can you just—"

"What, Percy?" She smiled that smile, the one where when he's close enough, he can see all her sun-kissed freckles, and the slight dimple she gets on only one cheek, and—

"Do you love me? But don't lie to me."

"Yeah, Percy, I do."
