19. Sick Day

Percy POV
I woke up with just the worst headache, so I went to the infirmary, and Will said I had a cold and to stay in the infirmary.

Annabeth POV
After I woke up, I head over to cabin three. Percy's cabin. He gave me a key so when I have a nightmare I can just walk into his cabin, so I figure since he didn't come by my cabin he's still sleeping. I'll just go in and make sure he doesn't miss breakfast.

I open the door, and find his bed had been slept in but he's not in it. The bathroom door is open, but no Percy. Maybe by the lake?
I go check the lake, no Percy. I'm sure he'll find me when he's done doing whatever he's doing.

I go to breakfast, and Percy still doesn't show up.

"Do you think Hera took him again?"

"I hope not."

"It'd be kind of funny if she did."

"No it wouldn't."

"What if he's cheating on you."

"No he's too loyal."

"I'm sure he's just busy."

"Too busy to see his own girlfriend?"

"I don't know."

"Can you guys stop? He'll show up!" I snapped. My siblings had never been hit supporters of my relationship with Percy, but to go as far as to assume things about his whereabouts is driving me crazy.

I head off to archery with my cabin, still no signs of Percy.

"Hey Annabeth!"

"Hi."

"Where's Percy?"

"I don't know." It hurt to say that again.

"You don't think..."

"No Piper I don't know what to think!"

"Whoa, its okay, I'm sure he's just with Chiron or something. Its a pretty big camp."

"What if he left?"

"And went where?"

"I don't know."

"He wouldn't survive outside camp very long."

"Yes he would. He probably ran off with Rachel or something." Will walked by and came up to us.

"Hey Annabeth, have you checked on Percy?"

"What do you mean?"

"Poor guy's in the infirmary."

"What!? What did he do?"

"He's fine he just-" I took off for the infirmary before Will could finish.

I rush to the infirmary, knocking into a group of younger Ares kids, causing them to curse me out in greek. I don't care I didn't stop till I got to the infirmary.

"Percy?"

"Yeah, no problem."

"You're sure you don't mind?"

"Yeah, hades, keep it if you want." I follow the voices, and I see an aphrodite camper wearing his Goode high swim
team captains sweatshirt.

"What happened?"

"Oh I'm fine don't worry. You should get back to your activities."

"Oh-okay..." I'm not the insecure type, well thats not true but I usually don't have to worry about Percy cheating on me. And he didn't even look hurt. He seemed to have just been hanging out with that Aphrodite girl, he gave her his sweatshirt. My favorite sweatshirt of his, that I often steal.

After dinner, I decide to go see if Percy's still avoiding me.

"Percy?"

"Hey."

"Okay thats it. What did I do? Why are you avoiding me?"

"What?"

"I haven't seen you all day. When you didn't come to my cabin this morning I figured you slept in late, then when I went to your cabin, it was empty. I looked all around camp for you. It was Will who told me you were here. You don't look hurt! What did I do? You owe me that at the least. I really didn't think you out of all people would do this." He smiled, and laughed.

"I have a cold."

"Oh. That still doesn't explain why you didn't want me around!"

"Yes it does, I didn't want you to get sick." My already red face, if possible turned even redder.

"You couldn't have told me that?"

"I was vomiting and sneezing all over the place, i really didn't want you to see me like that." I sat on his bed.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry, I was stupid. I should have just explained, because I can see how from your view my actions could be seen as me avoiding you because I was mad at you. Which I'm not. If anything I'm mad at myself." He looked down, upset with himself.

"Lets just go with you both suck?" The aphrodite girl cut in. I smiled and went in for a kiss, but he turned away.

"Stop, just kiss me you Seaweed Brain."

"You'll get sick."

"Fine." I kiss his forehead, that was burning up.
