Percy would stop in everyday at this little cafe that's down the street from where he lives. Annabeth has seen him in there everyday and at school. She works with her friend Thalia who's dad owns a whole chain of them. He has raven black, windswept hair, and just the most uniquely gorgeous sea green eyes. He orders the same thing everyday, a vanilla shake but requests that it be blue. She tried to offer him a blueberry shake but he took it plain. He ordered it blue the whole first week he would stop in, and Annabeth would tell him the same thing. Until she took it upon herself to go to the store and buy some blue food coloring for the next time she saw him.
"Can I get a vanilla shake?"
"Blue?" He looked up from his phone and smiled at her. He seemed to have seen her for the first time. Her blonde princess curls cascading down her shoulders.
"Yeah." He said almost breathless.
..."Percy." She tried to not watch him as he stood up from his computer to get his drink but the way he moved through the air it was like all lights shined on him making it impossible to not stare.
"Thanks." He winked and left a $20 as a tip. Except on the $20 was a number.
She was the one who lost her breath now. Did Percy Jackson, bad boy mcshizzle (jk I know that's Leo) just give her his number?
...
The next day at school Annabeth was packing up her stuff, Percy walked over only just noticing she went to his school."Annabeth?"
"Yeah?" Then she seemed to recognize the voice and she blushed without even looking at him. "Oh h-hey Percy."
"You go here?" Ouch. Did he only just realize that they go to the same school because she made his milkshake blue? Really? However if she was being honest with herself it was kind of endearing that, that was what go his attention.
"Yep I do."
"Really?" If Percy was being honest he knew she had gone to school with him since they were in second grade when she moved here from California. He knew that he had to keep up his rep. Meaning he had to act like he didn't notice her as much as he wanted to admit. The only reason he had stepped foot in that coffee shop was because he saw her at the register. He has had a huge crush on her since fifth grade, when she went from having cute features to full on gorgeous and it spiraled into her being a walking goddess on this earth that he just wants to be around. Call him a stalker sure, but you would too if you had a chance with Annabeth, not that he does of course, he just has a better chance than other guys... cough cough Luke Castellan... cough cough.
"I'm even in your English class." He of course knew that too, since he spends the period looking at her when she won't notice.
"Oh." Play it cool Percy. Play it cool. "Are you headed to the coffee shop?"
"Yep. Like I do everyday. As do you recently." Annabeth noticed a blush on his face. Or is she seeing things? He was scratching the back of his neck.
"Maybe we could—"
"—Percy!" Ugh. Drew Tanaka. Annabeth rolled her eyes as did Percy but neither saw each other. Drew was holding Percy's arm making him very uncomfortable, and the discomfort evident on his face. "Are you ever going to take me out?" She batted her eyelashes causing Annabeth to roll her eyes and back away while they weren't looking. She escaped right out from under Percy's eyes right when he was going to try to ask her out she just left.
"Dam it Drew." He slammed on the lockers.
"What?"
"Because you interrupted me she left!"
"Who? Uglybeth?"
"What did you call her?"
"Uglybeth. She like doesn't wear makeup!"
"Because she's actually pretty not fake like you!" Percy didn't mean to sound like a cliche movie but it was true. Annabeth was one of the three real girls in the whole school. Piper McLean, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, and Annabeth Chase. Silena Beauregard would count but she wears make up and is WAY out of his league, besides she's dating Beckendorf. Uh... Annabeth is way better than any of them in Percy's eyes. "Just get out of my way Drew."
"Where're you goin?"
"Away from you." He grabbed his board from the bushes, and was off to the coffee shop. He saw her from outside through the window, his heart pounded. He technically barely knew her. She barely knew him, except he likes blue milkshakes.
He walked in and Annabeth started on his shake, before he even got in line. Finally it was his turn at the register.
"I already have your shake going." Fuck it he's doing it.
"I was actually hoping to get something else..."
"Oh I-I'm sorry let me just... uh w-what can I get you?"
"A date." She blushed. He was trembling hoping she didn't notice.
"Are you joking? Did Drew set you up on this?"
"What?"
"W-why are you asking me out?"
"I like you...?"
"You don't know me! How could like me?"
"I've known you and I went to the same school since second grade when you moved here from California."
"Oh. I—" She looked at the clock on the wall. "I can't do this right now but my break is in half an hour if you uhm want
to stick around? Also do you still want the shake?"
...He waited, drinking his shake until Thalia came and she was able to go on break.
"Hi."
"Hey." He smiled, he couldn't believe she didn't try to hurt him. He's seen her judo flip the assholes who ask her out. Well they do it in an asshole way but still... You never know. "I uhm... the date?"
"Lets put that to the side for a second... What do you mean you've known we've gone to the same school when literally less than an hour ago you acted like you had no clue I existed outside the shop?"
"I... I don't have a good excuse other than I work hard to maintain my status and I couldn't let you or anybody know how much I like you—"
"Y-You like me?"
"Very much so yes."
"You're not messing with me? You're not going to stand me up or dump fake blood on me?"
"Fake blood? Come on I would use real blood if I was going to do that, but no, no gimmicks nothing just you, and I mean I'll be there too but yeah..."
"I-I don't know..."
"Why not!?"
"I still don't get why youre asking me?"
"I like you. you're nice, and easy on the eyes if you don't mind me saying... Who else would go out and buy blue food coloring for a stupid guy who asks for it everyday?"
"It was only to get you to shut up."
"Hey!"
"Come on, don't act like you would have stopped until you got your way."
"Fine. Speaking of which... is that a yes?"
"...I... I guess." She looked up at the clock again. "I should uhm get back to my shift, I have your number so I'll text you and we can make a plan?"
"Yeah, but real quick..." He stood up with her, looked at her and then kissed her. It was a sweet gentle kiss. The ones that you share at the beginning of something new.
