After Percy went missing Annabeth would visit Sally every weekend and spend every holiday with her and Paul that she could. They would share their stories to remember that Seaweed Brain, and make it feel like he was just in the other room.
"I just wish he'd come home."
"I know, he'll come back to us soon."
"You know, Jason was saying something about another camp and that maybe Percy's there but I don't know. Who would do such a thing?"
"I thought you said that he and two others went on some quest for Juno or Hera rather?"
"You think she'd really do that?"
"Well I don't know, but I know she never had a particular liking to either one of you, let alone half-bloods in general." Annabeth sniffled and held back useless tears.

They've cried so many times over Percy not being there that it feels pointless to hope anymore. Which is why Jason's plan is dangerous for their heart.
"Did I ever tell you he sent me a message?"
"No! W-What did he say?"
"That he was okay and on his way to Alaska."
"Alaska!?"
"That boy... I know, he's... he's something you know?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't he just... come home?"
"I don't know hon."
"Leo' s making phones and I just wish I could call him."
"Me too."
"He didn't leave a number for you to call or give an address or anything?"
"I'm afraid not."
"Do you think... he— he doesn't want to come home?"
"We can't think like that. We have to just hope right?" Now Sally was getting misty eyed. "He has to come back."
"What if he doesn't remember us?"
"He remembered the house number so I think he remembers some stuff."
"He might not remember me though and I don't think I can handle that."
"If he remembered me he remembers you."
"You're his mom, you don't forget your mom."
"Oh Annabeth." She held the girl in her motherly arms and felt as if she were her own daughter. Annabeth is after all the only thing really left of Percy at this point. He lives at camp for more than half the year, and has to be able to leave at a moments notice for a quest, or some kind of deathly mission. It hurts to be the mother of one of the most powerful demigods but Sally does it. She does it with stride. So much so she's able to take on Annabeth and Sally is appreciative of Annabeth. She remembers the day they came to tell her they were dating...

Percy and Annabeth had taken a cab to the train station to grand central and a cab from there to Percy's apartment. He and Annabeth had been dating a couple days, and were still in that awkward phase where they didn't want to do something to upset the other or scare them away. Sure they fight not only monsters but with each other, that they drive the other crazy, but that just gives them another reason to love the other, and appreciate each other.
They knocked on the door, and Sally, not expecting them answered in her robe. Annabeth whacked Percy's arm.
"You didn't tell her we were coming?"
"No but its fine. Hey Mom."
"Would you guys like some cookies? They're blue."
"I wouldn't expect anything else." Sally brought out a fresh batch of cookies that she had made that day, and put them in between the two. She sat across from them in. The living room.
"So... not that I'm not happy to have the two of you here but is there any particular reason as to why you decided to drop on by?" Percy took Annabeth's hand, sending sparks up it.
"Actually yes... we're uhm..." Sally got excited, having a feeling she knew what they were going to say.

Ever since she first met Annabeth, she had known Percy had felt something towards her. Not to mention she's probably the most level headed demigod she's ever met, sure she hasn't met many, but she just had that feeling about Annabeth. "...dating." Annabeth smiled sheepishly like for once she was scared of Sally.

Annabeth never had that mother figure when she was younger. Sure there was Helen but she was never motherly towards her. Especially once the twins were born. Now her boyfriend's mom, who was already the closest thing she had to a mother was a step closer to her. Everything and nothing changed. Percy and Annabeth's dynamic didn't change at all really, Annabeth was just a little more possessive of him, and him, her.

She had absolutely despised Rachel for threatening to take him from her. He was about to die and there he was hanging out with who they all thought was just a normal mortal, rather than with her. Someone who he had stuck by when nobody else would. Of course she wanted to keep him for herself, and Rachel threatened that.

"I just want him to come home."
"I know, he will. He loves you too much." Annabeth smiled gratefully at Sally, who was comforting her, even though Sally's child was missing and Percy was just a boyfriend to Annabeth, even though they all knew she was so much more than that. More than a girlfriend, more than a friend... a missing piece, a half to a whole. A soulmate.
