AN: This isn't my idea necessarily. I saw someone else do something like this as a one shot, I just thought it's as a cool idea and I wanted to write a version of it myself :)

She stared at herself in the mirror. Her eyes red and puffy from crying. Today was the day. No turning back. Nobody around to stop her. She was at the end of her line. She had enough of what everyone said. She was sick and tired of the presumptions. She never thought of herself as particularly pretty, contrary to what Percy says.
She stared at it on the counter. If she goes through with this what will Percy say? Will he be mad? Will he break up with her? No, he likes her, for her.

The box sat there on the sink, taunting her.
Annabeth always hated the stereotype of the 'dumb blonde' she of course was an exception. Unfortunately at school or even around camp sometimes, people assumed she was stupid. Percy did his best to reassure her that it doesn't matter. He of course was infamous for his raven black hair, meaning he didn't face this stereotype every time he looked inn the mirror. Kids at school always dismissed her

"Fuck it. I've had enough." She grabbed the box, and started to read the directions. She opened the box and put on the gloves. She hesitated for a second. She thought about how she should have had Piper help her, but of course Piper would refuse telling her it wasn't worth it.
She prepared the dye, as she mixed it she heard footsteps.

"Annabeth?" Crap! Percy. Maybe if she stays quiet he won't think she's home. He knocked on the door. "Annabeth?" She still didn't say anything. He started to try for the door. He of course thought the worst, and before he could kick the door down, she gave in and opened the door. "Are you okay?" Then he saw the box, the gloves, her eyes, and his heart broke. "Annabeth... please don't tell me you were going to do what it looks like?" She couldn't meet his eyes.

"I... I just- I've had enough Percy. Why did my mom have to choose a man with blonde hair? Why are people so awful?" He just hugged her.

"Annabeth. You don't need to change. You're perfect. I don't know why you don't believe me. Thats the stupidest thing you do."

"Percy, I just hate that the first thing people see about me is my hair color, and then assume I'm dumb. I can't stand it!" Her eyes were watering again. He just pulled her to his chest, and she laid her head over his heart and relaxed at the steady bu-bum bu-bum of his heart.

"Listen to me. You look beautiful no matter how you look. I'll love you nevertheless, but I don't want you to change because you think it will make people think of you differently."

"You want to let people think I'm dumb?"

"No, what I'm saying is look on the bright side. You get to surprise the fuck out if them. They'll go home questioning everything they know." He succeeded in making her feel better. He always does. "So please. Take off the gloves, and throw out that box." She sniffled and threw out the box, dye and all.

"You're too good for me."

"You're too smart for me so lets just call it even?" He kissed the top of her head, and then wiped her tears away with his thumb.
