"Annabeth, hon, its noon, I thought to wake you before I head off to work. I left medicine on the kitchen counter and blankets in the living room." Sally checked her watch. "Percy should be home soon, feel better."
"Thank you Sally." Annabeth croaked, her voice hoarse, and sore. Sally ran her hand over Annabeth's face in a motherly, loving way, and kissed her forehead before leaving.

Annabeth closed her eyes to go back to sleep, only to be woken up what felt like hours but was just minutes, by Sally who forgot her coffee.
"Percy?"
"No dear, just me, I forgot my mug. Feel better." She left for the day, and Annabeth was alone. She looked at the time on the microwave, 12:30.
"Ugh. Percy just, come back." She walked back to Percy's room, and sat down on the bed. Even though they both sleep there, it still smells like him. She took his pillow and went into the living room, where she put on Disney movies. Something mindless that won't make her brain work.
P: Hey sleepyhead
A: hi
P: Whats wrong?
A: I'm sick
P: I know, thats why I didn't wake you this morning
A: You didn't say bye tho
P: I'll be home soon, love you
A: You promise? Love you too
P: Of course <3

After Percy texted Annabeth, he looked up to be met with brown, doughy eyes.
"Hi Casey." He said dejectedly.
"OH My god Percy! How are you!!?? What are you doing later today, you know it's Friday, a night a lot of people our age go out and you know... do stuff. We could go to the movies, or you could come over and we could—" She cut herself off with her own giggles.
"Casey, you know I have a girlfriend." He deadpanned.
"I don't see her."
"She's home sick."
"Thats too bad pookie." She ran her index finger, seductively, up and down his bicep. "Well not for me. Or you, it gives you freedom, come on, school's over in what... ten minutes? Screw your swim practice and take me out., then if you've been a good boy you can screw me." Percy completely disregarded the last part of what she said.
"Crap! Swim meet today!" He grabbed for his phone, only for Casey to snatch it right out of his hands. "Casey come on, just give me my phone."
"Your phone looks weird."
"My friend Leo made it. Now please give it back." She twirled it in her fingers. "Be careful!" He said just as it fell out of her hand. Percy lunged for it, knowing that if one thing got knocked loose, it would either, explode, or send off a huge ping to all the monsters in the tristate area, that says 'hey monsters, its a demigod over here for the picking!' When the phone hit the floor, it shattered. "Casey! Whats wrong with you?!"
"Hey its not my fault your phone's a piece of crap." Percy had to tell himself, that its not okay to beat people up just because they're annoying, or because they hit on him, or they disrespect Annabeth, or they— the point is: he can't hurt her.
He couldn't call anybody, his phone's broken. He's gotten so used to being able to rely on his phone that he doesn't know what to do now. He doesn't have time before his swim meet to go home and let Annabeth know what happened, and he can't use the school's pay phones, not when its two demigods, that attracts the worst of the monsters. He can't risk sending Annabeth a monster, not when she's sick. He just has to hope she'll figure it out. She's smart. Thats her whole thing, like... it'll be fine.

When the clock hit 3:30 Annabeth started to get worried. He was supposed to be home half an hour ago. Its not just that she wants her boyfriend, which she desperately wants, but he could of been attacked he has no back up, or he could get into some real shit or... gods dam it Percy! Where are you? She had enough once the clock hit 4:00. She bundled herself up, coat, hat, her drakon bone sword, her phone, tissues, and head off to Goode to see what in the hades happened to Percy.

She got to the school and it was packed. All she could think about was Percy, is he okay? Where could he be? And why is he ignoring her? He wouldn't ch- no... As those thoughts raced through her head she started running, she didn't have an idea as to where she should look but she ended up following all the noise towards the gym. She was so fuzzy in the head that it didn't occur to her that he might be swimming. It was 5:45 now, she checked the whole school before heading to the gyms. Her head hurt, and her nose was chapped. She finally made it to the gyms and found him on the bench, looking nervous, and on edge. She walked up and sat next to him. He was starring off in the distance, and didn't realize she sat next to him.
"I have a girlfriend sorry."
"Seaweed Brain." He snapped out of it.
"What are you doing here? You should be home, you're sick." His voice was almost motherly. Not fatherly, but motherly in his tone.
"Somebody wasn't answering their phone and I got scared, especially since that same someone didn't tell me they had a swim meet." She punched his shoulder, then leaned her head on his chest.
"That bitch Casey dropped my phone and it just... shattered. I had been on my way to text you because I also forgot I had a swim thing tonight and," He looked at her and gave up. "I'm sorry. I suck, these all sound like such lame excuses." He put his head down in shame.
"You Seaweed Brain. Of course those things would happen to us. Its us! When has luck ever been on our side?"
"Well... I can name a few."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yup."
"Go for it."
"Well... for one: You," He nicked her cheek. "just so happened to be the one who was there when I woke up in the infirmary, another one that comes to mind is that you were destined to go on that quest with me, or that weird instinct thing that happened on the Williamsburg bridge?"
"I guess... Why was she touching your phone?"
"She asked me out for tonight, and in doing so reminded me that this meet was happening and I knew you were expecting me home right after school so as I went for my phone she snatched it and was flinging it around, and just being an idiot."

"PERCY!!!"
"Speak of the devil..." he mumbled under his breath making Annabeth giggle, and hook her arm with his.
"Percy! You were so good!"
"I haven't gone yet."
"Oh. Well good because I just got here." Percy looked at Annabeth and they had a sort of mental conversation.

"Do you want me to get rid of her?"
"Only if she's bugging you, I don't care, I just want to make sure you're okay."
"Oh shut up."
"What?"
"Don't be a dick."
"What?"
"Never mind I got this."

"Hey Casey, you know we appreciate your continuous support for his swimming career, but what would be great is if you went and sat down so he can focus."
"But you're here."
"She's my moral support." Percy cut in.
"I can do that too!" She sat down on the other side of him.
"This bench is actually for the athletes."
"Annabeth's sitting here."
"She shouldn't be, I was actually explaining that to her when you walked over." He wrapped an arm around her, he kissed her temple and whispered in her ear.
"I'll meet up with you when I get out of the pool?" She nods, kisses him and heads to the stands.
"Now that she's gone..." Casey turned his head to kiss him but Percy realized what was happening just in time and stood up.

"Jackson. Get in the pool."
"On it coach." He dove in.
"WhooOooo Go Percy!"
