(A/N:  know that losing your mom to a fire you started is probably worse but we never get a real look into her past, so I'm doing my best trying to make her past different from Percy's but equally as bad. Also, from her perspective she had it the worst, even if she didn't actually have it all that bad, compared to Leo as an example.)

Annabeth was laying in bed, stuck in her head. She was just thinking about that time before she went on that stupid quest for her mom to get the Parthenos back, when she was attacked by a flood of spiders. She shivered at the thought. Yes all children of Athena have arachnophobia, and have bad experiences with spiders but... not every child of Athena was attacked at night by spiders.

"Hey."

"Hi." He laid down next to her, wrapping an arm around her and kissed her neck.

"So..."

"Whats up Percy?" He kissed her neck up to her sweet spot.

"It's your turn."

"What?"

"Last night you made me tell you about Gabe..."

"Yeah...?" He gave her the seal eyes. "Oh. Percy I don't know... I don't think its a good idea tonight."

"Thats not fair, I told you about Gabe, and well I don't want to sound like an infant but you promised!" She giggled at her boyfriend's antics.

"Only if we can keep the light on, spiders give me the heeby jeebies."

"Of course." She gulped and turned so her face was in his chest. He held her, and kissed her head.

"Uhm... s-so my dad had just left for a business trip as he does, and the first night they came, I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating or not, but I was also angry because Helen had sent me to bed without dinner, because we had an argument about something."

"I'm sure you bested her nonetheless."

"You know I did, but she didn't like being corrected by a seven year old." She laughed as he nuzzled into her neck. "So I was just in my bed and they came."

"Who?" She didn't answer for a second, she tried to hide but its hard when he's tucked in her side.

"The spiders, thousands, no millions of them flooding in from my closet, and I feel it's important for it to be known that I hadn't been claimed yet. My dad would say that my mom was Athena, and he always made sure I knew I had to be better than everyone when it came to brains. He had the highest expectations of me, but never was around to make sure I followed through or even when I did he never batted an eye at me about it." She ran her hands through his hair, absentmindedly playing with the slight curl to his hair. "So when the spiders came they drowned me, biting me and I would scream, Helen wasn't happy with me already so when she heard me screaming she told me to shut up and go back to sleep. I think the worst part of that was that I could smell the nice home cooked meal she made when she opened my door." He kissed her head.

"When she left she locked the door again, and the only reason she got away with that is because I had a tiny bathroom off of my room that connected to the boys' room, which she also locked. After she did that for the first time I started to hide food in my room for when she would do that to me." His arms tightened around her, comforting her. She was glad Percy was with her, she was appreciative that someone cared enough to listen to her. Nobody ever cared what she went through. All demigods have a rough past, but she and Percy had their own personal demons because of it. Sure Leo lost his mom, Hazel died, Jason... 😳☹️— Jason was traded to Hera because she wanted her own hero. But there was something about being mentally and physically abused that just feels different.

"She didn't uhm—... hit... you?"

"No, she never went that far, it was more... verbal than anything else."

"Y-You were seven?"

"Yep." Annabeth tried to play it off like it doesn't affect her, like the hurtful things her stepmom would say to her didn't follow her everywhere she went. The only thing that keeps those harmful words at bay is Percy. She feels like he's the best thing that ever happened to her. Which is logical of course, he was prophesied to take her on her first quest. From then on they were an inseparable duo. Yes Grover went on the quest with them but he had his own path to walk.

She remembers the first time she realized he was who she needed in her life. It was in his first air bubble in the sea of monsters. She was still hung up on Luke, having trouble coming to terms with what happened to him, but Percy, before they even knew what his fatal flaw was, he was loyal. He proved that when she was kidnapped by the manticore. He wasn't allowed to leave camp but he did. For her.

The fear and confusion that ran through her when she got the prophecy for her own quest, she didn't know who she was losing, but "to lose a love to worse than death" isn't something you want to hear when your best friend is going on a quest with you. She couldn't tell him not to come after she'd asked him, he would have just followed them anyways. She wasn't sure if it even was him, Luke still had a tight grip on her heart, and she wasn't ready to him go. It wasn't until she saw Silena get used by him did she fully comprehend what a real monster he was.

When Luke died she was distraught but knew who she was meant to be with... at least she thought she did, until Rachel showed up in the middle of their battle. Annabeth knew she couldn't have let Rachel die in the crashing helicopter since Percy would be upset, and probably be mad at her for knowing how to fly and didn't save her. It was a fast, ADHD decision that she's glad she made.

She laid on top of him, basking in his ocean scent.

"Annabeth?" She hummed her response. "I hope you know what you mean to me." Her arms tightened around his torso. "I hate that we went through the terrible things we did, but I'd go through it again as long as it leads me to you." She didn't know what to say.

"I love you." He kissed her.

A/N: Sorry for the crappy second part. It seemed like a good idea in my head, but the first on is awful if the second one doesn't exist. Its a whole complicated situation, I just hope you know how much I appreciate the comments and votes (hint hint) you've left. Again sorry for the crap story but I'll get better. Thank you again!
