"Perce, remember, we have reservations at that nice little whats it called place... the—"
"Restaurant?" He smirked as she was distracted by her phone which was blowing up with messages from work. "Are you sure tonight's still good? You seem busy already."
She could sense he was already hurt by the fact she was more consumed by her phone than she was him.
"Oh honey, I'm sorry." She cupped his face and gave him a sweet kiss. Nothing that would lead anywhere, but it was just perfect... for them.
"You promise you'll be there?"
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." He dragged her into his hold. "Percy? I have to go Seaweed Brain."
"No." He held her tighter, not wanting to let her go.
"Percy, come on I really have to get going, I have meetings all day."
"Fine. And you're a thousand percent positive you can make it to dinner tonight? Because if you can't its okay, I just need to know so I can cancel the reservations."
"I made them you Seaweed Brain."
"Fine. But you promise?"
"Yes I promise, now please release me so I can get to work?" He did and stood up to give her a kiss before she left.
"Love you!" He called after her.
"Huh? Oh yeah. Me too!" She shouted from the elevator.
He was a little upset, lately she seems to have no time for him at all. He almost feels like she should just cut him loose and give her all the time she needs to get her work done.
She works weekends and late nights too. Its not just a simple nine to five job anymore. When she first started, she let him know that she would be late and what time exactly, like down to the minute, she'd be there.
This way he could have made them dinner, and they had time for them. Unfortunately now she comes home at anywhere between seven and eleven thirty, exhausted, and Percy's more than happy to just sit with her, but she doesn't even want to do that. She just wants to go to bed.
The second her head hits the pillow, she's out like a light. He had been okay with it the first... ten times it happened, but by the twentieth time, he started to think that maybe she didn't want to com home. She's just distant, and it hurts.
He's hurting. So much so he consulted a couple's counselor. Only, the counselor wasn't all that willing to give just him advice since his other half... of the couple that is, wasn't even informed of the appointment. He had this weird urge to hide the fact that he thought their relationship was failing a bit. Like it was this big secret that only he should deal with.
At the session he was given advice on how to 'effectively communicate' and 'be honest' like he was hiding a secret family from her!... he's not. ... unless you count the fact that his family is failing... its all very complicated.
Tonight, as per the session, he was told to schedule time together. Luckily, Annabeth, of course, is the planner. So, he told her he wanted to go out to dinner with her. Effectively communicating! Check! Now he just has to continue, so he can share his feelings to... can you guess why? Yup! Effectively communicate with her! Its all about communication, and sharing, and being open. Essentially just tell the other person whats happening inside your head.
They used to be so in synch, they could practically read each other's minds, or tell what the other wanted with just a look but now... he can barely get a read on what she wants anymore. Its like she doesn't care, she's just stopped all effort. Yes she'll still kiss him and be with him, but its lost all sentiment, and love in it.
