15. Chase Family Dinner

Annabeth POV

Family. That used to be a sore subject for me. first I ran from my dad and evil step monster, then Thalia and Luke took me under their wings, but then Thalia sacrificed herself, and became a tree (its not funny) A-and Luke was never the same. He— you know... Kronos and all that.

Anyways, I found family in Percy. He's my family now, he's all I'll ever need, and the family we build together will only expand my heart, but for now, my "dad" has yet to meet him, as my boyfriend.

So here we are, its a warm, sunset in San Francisco, and we're standing outside the door, Percy wants to knock but I-I just can't.

"Lets just go."

"No Wise Girl, we're doing this."

"He's going to tell me that you're wrong for me."

"What makes you say that? We've saved the world like two times, how could he not like me? Anyways I met him when I went to go find you and we held up the sky and all that." Before I can respond the door opens. To my surprise, I'm met with one of my brothers who is like a giant now, Percy's still taller, and in better shape, but they aren't half god, they're half devil but that's besides the point.

"W-wow you've gotten big."

"Annabeth! It's so good to see you, you've been in our thoughts lately."

"Oh that's uh nice." Percy steps forward.

"Whoa, did you bring this guy?"

"Yeah, he's my uh friend, you remember Percy."

"Hi, Percy Jackson. Annabeth's... friend." My brother shakes his hand. We walk in and the smell of food hits us. I can practically hear Percy's stomach.

"Annabeth?"

"Yes?"

"Oh my gods you've... matured so much."

"... T-Thanks dad...?"

"Where is uh your b—"

"Hi Mr. Chase, I don't know if you remember me but I'm Percy Jackson."

"Wow, you've grown up so much!" Why does he get a normal comment? "It's so great to see you again, and under better circumstances." W-was that a nice comment from my dad? "Please, make yourselves at home."

"Thank you." We go and into the living room where there's a fire lit in the fireplace. I shoot Percy a look, we sit as far away from it as possible. "It's okay Wise Girl."

"I know, it just makes my insides burn looking at it."

"I know. I'll uh— Mr. Chase, Sir, is it okay if I put the fire out?"

"I guess but can you tell me why? Is it too hot?" Percy looks at me and we have a mental conversation.

"You haven't told him?"

"...No"

"What am I suppose to say?'

"Uh yeah, I run really warm." He puts the fire out, with a glass that was left out. I'm of course cold now. Stupid California blood.

"Are you Leo now? I run warm what kind of bull is that."

"Fine lets just tell them then."

"Tell us what?" Helen popped her head out.

"Uhm nothing." She flashes a skeptical look but goes back to cooking.

"So Percy. Tell me, how is school?"
