Yunho wasn't often impatient, but the emotion he felt on his way to find Mingi was so extreme that it took everything in him not to run.
After spending the entirety of his remaining shift hours continually looking back and forth from the clock on the wall to whatever was in front of him, he had declined for the first time in his life when he was asked if he could stay longer to help out.
Nervous and anxious and sick with worry, Yunho's heart had been beating out of his chest ever since he'd heard about Mingi fainting, and it was beginning to really eat away at him. It had become so extreme in the hours he'd spent back in the ER, knowing that he couldn't be with him, making sure he was okay.
The longer he spent away, the more he began to worry... the more he itched to ask whether he could slip away for a moment to check on him...
But of course, he could not do that, for his over-worried state would never be acknowledged for something as unconcerning as syncope. After all, if he hadn't been well enough to fend for himself, then they wouldn't have discharged him in the first place.
But that did absolutely nothing to comfort Yunho.
His chest ached, and there was only one way he would be able to breath a deep sigh of relief: when he laid eyes on him and saw for himself that he was okay.
And amidst his worry, Yunho could never have predicted how hard his heart would thump in his chest, the instant that long awaited moment came that he could put his hand on the door handle and walk inside.
Hammering inside his chest, Yunho was almost too scared to open the door. What would he find? Could he bare it if he saw? Could he handle it if something bad had happened while he wasn't there?
A hoard of worst case scenarios played through his head, scaring him more and more and more, until finally, he couldn't take it any more.
Pushing the door open, his eyes naturally found him without even having to try, and he immediately felt his chest calm, at least two fold.
Gently stepping inside, he didn't dare take his eyes off of him as he quietly padded inside. Leaving his bag and the things he was carrying at the foot of the bed, he crouched down beside him, eyes glued down.
Breathing deep, relaxed breaths, Mingi was fast asleep; comfortably curled up under the blankets with his hair splayed out across the crisp white of the pillowcase. Lips slightly parted, his dark eyelashes rested down over his cheek bones, casting tiny little shadows over his pale skin.
He looked so peaceful, sleeping there so soundly that Yunho could almost forget that not five hours earlier, he had fainted and knocked himself unconscious. Almost.
Gently reaching up; immensely careful not to wake him; Yunho brushed his hair aside, checking the dressing.
Dry and clean with no signs of discomfort or infection, Yunho let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding.
He's okay, he thought, feeling himself relax a little.
Letting his dark hair fall back down over his forehead, Yunho sat back on the floor, taking a few deliberately deep breaths and reminding himself that he was okay. He was asleep, not in pain, and not in discomfort.
