Yunho had greatly underestimated how tired he would be after a twelve hour night shift.
Collapsing down into a seat at the back of the auditorium hall, he was twenty minutes early, thanks to having come straight from the hospital, and he intended to spend every single second of that time, asleep.
Hauling his messenger bag up onto the desk before him, he put his head down on it and closed his eyes, falling asleep almost immediately.
However after some unknown amount of time had passed, a hand came down on his shoulder, dragging him drowsily from his deep sleep.
'Mmm, wot...?' he murmured, sitting up and rubbing his burning eyes. Leaning back, he glanced to his side to see who had touched him, but the instant his eyes fell upon the perpetrator, he was suddenly wide awake.
'Min...'
'Yunho, why are you here? You could have texted me and asked to take notes. They're recording the session as well,' the brunette said with a concerned expression pained over his face.
Yunho rubbed the sleep from his right eye, sitting up straighter and flattening out his messy hair. 'I'm fine.'
But Mingi just looked at him with an incredibly doubtful expression... At least, until he suddenly laughed.
Yunho's eyes widened a little in confusion. 'What?' he asked, looking around behind him, wondering whether it hadn't been him...
'Yun, you're a mess. You think combing your hair with your fingers is going to make you look less like a zombie?'
Yunho glanced down, biting his lip for a moment. 'It was a busy shift, okay...?'
He heard Mingi chuckle lightly, before he sighed. Sitting down beside him, it made Yunho's pulse suddenly go through the roof as his heart beat out of his chest.
'Yun, just put your head down and sleep. I'll wake you up when it's question time. Okay?'
Yunho felt like a child when he shook his head. 'I'm awake now... trust me...' Staring at Mingi, seeing those hazel specks across his dark eyes, and the slight lines in his lips, he felt his own jaw open a little, breathless...
But having seen his eyes flicker to his lips for that short second, Mingi cleared his throat, facing the front and getting his laptop out. 'If you keep looking at me, I'm going to move seats.'
Yunho's eyes widened for a moment, before his head suddenly snapped to the front. Heart thudding in his chest, he saw in his peripherals as Mingi smirked softly, biting his lips.
'Put your head down and rest,' Mingi said softly, his gentle voice so personal and intimate that it melted Yunho to his soul.
'I can put my head down, but I won't be able to sleep,' he said, feeling his stomach fill with butterflies.
'Then do that.'
And Yunho swore to god, he couldn't not do what he said. It was like he didn't even hold a choice in the matter.
Resting his forearms down on the desk over his bag, he rested his head down over them, turning his face to the side Mingi sat on, but not daring to look up at him.
Instead, he let his eyes half close, and gazed out at Mingi's nimble fingers typing in his username and password into his laptop, and the way his little bracelet twinkled in the morning light.
From here, he could smell his sweet scent engulfing his senses, both worsening, and curing his headache all at once, and just the sound of him beside him, was enough to make Yunho feel at peace.
'Are you looking at me?' Mingi asked gently, slight suspicion in his voice.
And Yunho smirked, unable to stop himself. He shook his head a little, hearing his hair rustle against his bag. 'Absolutely not.'
But it was a lie, since his peripherals could clearly see his face, and the little smirk that crossed them as he rolled his eyes.
Yunho had been dreading this class, for two reasons. One, being that he knew he would be tired and irritable, just wanting to go home and sleep. And two, being that he had thought he would have to spend the entire class staring at the back of Mingi's head, knowing he was avoiding him.
He'd been dreading this class.
But suddenly, he didn't want it to ever end.
And the moment his elbow somehow brushed Mingi's forearm as he typed, it felt electric.
At first, it had been just an instantaneous touch, but after a few moments, they brushed again, a little longer...
And a second turned to two seconds, and two turned to five, and before Yunho knew it, his elbow was permanently resting against Mingi's forearm, their warmth flowing through their touch. He didn't know how it had happened, but it was more than enough for him to wish that time could stop, and he would never have to move again.
But his touch was soothing, and despite having been wide awake earlier, beside Mingi, he felt himself relax, and before he knew it, he was drifting off to sleep once more.
Little did he know though, that as he fell deep into his doze, he started to lean across, alllll the way, until the top of his head was against Mingi's forearm, replacing the spot where his elbow had once been.
And little did he know, that after Mingi's initial panic had worn off, he had gently brushed his fingers through his hair, and ghosted his fingers over his cheek.
Yunho had been fast asleep, under the comfort of his touch, wishing deep down that time would stand still.
And Yunho had missed the words that Mingi had whispered to him, gazing down upon him.
'If you keep this up, Yun, I might just find that I can't possibly move on, and leave you behind...'
