Sitting on a bar stool at a pub he'd not been to in a very long time, San was surrounded by his uni friends, celebrating finishing their exams. The people sitting around the round table were the ones he had spent his university years with, keeling over textbooks in classes and dying of exhaustion on studio floors with.
And these were the people who would be his generation of artists and colleagues.
As Kai beside him raised his glass, everyone else followed. 'To a long, gruelling haul, but making it in the end!' he announced.
'Cheers~' the group responded, all clinking their glasses together.
But as much as these were the people San had spent all these years with, he couldn't help but still feel a tad distant from them - or most, anyways...
Sipping his martini and gently putting it back down on the table, he stared into the bottom of the colourful liquid and dazed off... Drifting to a place where he imagined tomorrow morning, knocking on Wooyoung's door and having it open to reveal his sparkling eyes and incredible smile...
A hand slapped down on his shoulder, startling him from his daydream...
'You, look like you're love sick,' Kai said.
He cringed. 'Is it that obvious?'
He shrugged. 'Mmm... not really. But I know what you're going home to, so I'm not surprised you're all doey.'
Chuckling a little, he shook his head. 'I'm not actually. Not tonight. He's having dinner with his family. He had some big news he wanted to tell them.'
Suddenly, Yuta on his other side slapped him in the chest, and San didn't even know he'd been listening.
'Did you just say he?'
Pausing to backtrack through his words, San's jaw suddenly fell open as he realised his slip up. Internally kicking himself, he closed his eyes, taking a breath before opening them once more. I guess there's no better time to face it, like the present.
But before he could say anything, Jeonghan from a couple of seats suddenly looked up, catching his attention.
San almost groaned.
Not only did Yuta hear, but Jeonghan as well.
But something in those eyes... It kind of seemed like desperation...
Kai's words ran through his head about the people in the group that would appreciate his openness...
And San decided to take an entirely different approach...
'Yes I did say he. My boyfriend got his letter of acceptance into tafe this week~.'
He watched as Yuta's eyes widened.
But glancing around the table, he saw Jeonghan's eyes flicker across the countertop towards Felix, who seemed unaware entirely...
San suddenly felt Kai's hand gently and subtly on his back, patting him gently where no one else could see.
'You have a boyfriend?' Yuta asked, staring at him. And of course, his interest raised other people's attention, until soon, their entire side of the table was staring at him.
He tried his best to remain calm and act how he would anywhere else: Normal.
'I do~.'
Jackson suddenly piped up, not seeming shocked, nor intimately interested. 'The blonde who came to the recital?' he asked casually over his drink.
