Melting under the warmth of the blankets in the morning sun, Hongjoong moaned softly to himself in content.
Rolling over and enjoying the entire bed to himself, he stretched out, curling and uncurling his toes as he sunk into the sheets. Resting with the blankets up over his head, he sighed contentedly, drifting back off to sleep...
'Hongjoong babe, are you sleeping?'
Hearing Seonghwa call out in a hushed whisper, Hongjoong sluggishly brought himself back to reality. Hearing his footsteps nearing, he pulled down the blankets and poked his nose out sleepily. 'Yes,' he replied, his voice filled with morning husk, despite it being already almost seven.
He watched as Seonghwa dropped his phone down on the table on his way into the bedroom, before crawling up over the end of the bed and up beside him, pulling the blankets back and cuddling in against him.
'Did you ring the hospital?' Hongjoong asked, closing his eyes as the movement between them stilled.
'Mhm,' he hummed. 'I told them I'd be back tomorrow.'
Hongjoong nodded, his hair creating white noise on the pillowcase. 'I'm going to have severe attention withdrawals starting tomorrow then.'
Seonghwa chuckled softly. Scooting closer, he slung his wrist over his waist and pulled them together, causing Hongjoong to let out a soft breath of air.
He felt so content, it was almost strange. He liked waking up like this. He liked the gruff way Seonghwa sounded in the mornings, and he liked the way his scent was so much more potent... especially after having seeped deep into the bedsheets he was surrounded by.
'Hwa, where do you see our relationship going?'
Seonghwa hummed, thinking. Letting his hand slip beneath Hongjoong's shirt onto the bare skin on his waist, he brushed his thumb idly over him. 'If you're asking whether I'm serious about you, then yes. I don't usually like saying forever, but I really do feel like I could easily spend the rest of my life with you... Why? Where do you see it going?'
Hongjoong let out a steadying breath, thinking, but also feeling what he needed to... He wasn't exactly nervous... Nor anxious... But there was a certain unidentifiable emotion that had no name, making him slightly uneasy. Not in a particularly negative way... But the sort of way where he felt he had reached a Y in his life's path, and was fast approaching the point where he needed to make a decision...
And that decision was absolutely one he could not make alone.
'I really like waking up here with you... I like making breakfast with you, I like brushing my teeth with you, I like going to work with you... Hell, I even like changing light bulbs with you... I think I just really want to be around you. Being with you seems to put me at ease...'
Biting his lip a little as he let his emotions surface one by one, he smiled a little as he felt Hwa pull him closer, shifting to share the same pillow and resting his forehead against his.
'Mmm? What are you thinking about?' he asked softly, nuzzling his head a little against him before resting still and letting their breath mix together.
And Hongjoong felt his chest fill with emotions. He felt good - secure... He liked being there... It felt right...
'... Last night, I was looking at my toothbrush in your bathroom...'
The image of him standing before the sink, staring at the green toothbrush materialised as a memory in his mind, along with the thoughts that had accompanied it.
