Handing in his last paper for his university career was the most liberating thing San could imagine experiencing. He had hated writing essays from the first moment he'd gotten to university, and now, all these years later, this was the last one.
Good riddance.
Filing out of the classroom without even looking back, he startled for a moment as a hand suddenly came down firmly on his shoulder.
'San-ah~. Haven't seen you in a while~.'
He looked up to see Kai falling into step beside him with his arm still resting over his shoulders. 'How's your terrifying little Wooyoung? What's he been up to? Apart from scaring the general public?'
San's lips pulled into an amused smirk as his heart warmed to the thought of the blonde love of his life. 'He's not that intimidating.'
'Oh on the contrary, I'd say he's pretty damn intimidating. Those eyes...'
His heart fluttered. 'Kitten eyes...' he accidentally breathed, mystified and enchanted by the image...
Kai rolled his eyes. 'San, my boy, those aren't kitten eyes. Those are panther eyes.'
Momentarily snapped from his daze, he rolled his eyes right back at him. 'Whatever. Wooyoung's fine. He just applied to tafe, and his parents just moved to town, so he's spending most days visiting them.'
Kai raised an eyebrow. 'Jealous?'
He narrowed his eyes. 'Why would I? He takes me, with him.'
'Oh damn. Fair enough. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.'
'Remind me again why would you be surprised?'
He shrugged, taking his arm off of his shoulders and digging his hand into his pocket instead. 'No clue. None, I guess. There's no reason you shouldn't be meeting parents.'
San rolled his eyes at the carefree, chill attitude his friend was exerting. 'And why wouldn't you be surprised?'
'Because you look like you're married?'
San choked. 'What?!'
He looked at him with skepticism. 'You're telling me you can't see how solid you two look?'
Clearing his throat, he tried to calm his spiked pulse. 'I don't keep a habit of assessing my relationship from the standpoint of a third person.'
Kai snorted, rolling his eyes. 'You're funny. Hey, the guys are all heading out for dinner to celebrate the exam shit being finally done. With the exception of recital of course. You wanna come with?'
San gave him the most apologetic look he could muster. 'I have to teach,' he said regretfully.
Kai groaned. 'Text me when you're free. The boy's would love an excuse to go out again.'
San laughed, rolling his eyes. 'Will do.'
'Tell that blonde feline of yours I said hi.'
San laughed. 'Yeah I'll tell him you're still having nightmares about him. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.'
Kai's eyes widened comically as though it were absolutely true. 'Oh I have no doubt he will. See you round, Choi.'
San smiled, giving him a small wave.
'Later.'
