Hand in hand with fingers entwined in the warmth of Jongho's coat pocket, the two peacefully strolled along the street, lit up by the pretty lights lining the buildings. Chatting idly about work and family and life and hobbies and basically everything that they had possibly could have talked about, hours passed by like mere minutes.
And for Yeosang, his nerves that had disappeared over dinner were slowly starting to return, knowing that sometime soon, one of them would have to bring it, up.
Feeling Jongho squeeze his hand, running his thumb over his skin, Yeosang leant into his side, butterflies taking flight. He brushed his thumb over him in response, too shy suddenly to show his eyes and blushing cheeks.
'It'd be nice if we could do this all the time,' Jongho said, sighing in content.
And Yeosang's heart melted. 'Yeah, it would...' He pursed his bottom lip up a little at the saddening thought that passed through his mind. 'It's too bad you're so busy...'
Their footsteps on the pathway continued to slowly tap as they walked with no destination in mind. 'It's not just study though. The profession is busy. Yunho tells me about it all the time...'
Yeosang nodded. He knew all too well. Him and Hongjoong had been culprits of not spending enough time at home for long enough for disaster to hit...
'It's rewarding though. Not everything in life is about relationships. You spend so much time of your life at work, no matter your job. If you can love what you do, then that's one big chunk of yourself that you can come to enjoy being with.'
Jongho squeezed his hand. 'Yeah, I guess so. But the people in your life are also really important...'
Having walked into a courtyard in the city, a massive fountain lay in the centre that they both silently seemed to start to walk towards. Neither of them speaking, Yeosang's nerves went to maximum capacity, knowing that this was the best segway they would get...
But with neither of them speaking, it took a long silent walk until they stopped before the fountain and gazed into the water illuminated by coloured spotlights. Still hand in hand with fingers entwined, Yeosang felt Jongho move closer, their bodies right next to each other with hearts beating out of their chests.
'Yeosang-ah, does the age gap between us bother you?'
Yeosang frowned. That wasn't what he'd expected to hear. 'No? I don't even notice to be honest. Why? Does it bother you?'
Yeosang saw from his side on view, the corner of his lip turn up as he continued to stare into the water. 'No. But I thought it would probably be safer to ask that first, before I told you how I felt.'
Ever-so-tenderly, Jongho started brushing his thumb rhythmically over his skin sending electric sparks up his wrist. 'I think you already know how much I like you... But the truth is, I think it started the night we met at that dinner...'
Yeosang's eyes widened, looking up at him as he continued to stare forwards.
'You know, you have this really unique personality that makes you stand out from everyone else. You're really smart, and it shows through your sassiness...' He laughed to himself, clearly imagining something that Yeosang couldn't see. 'But right from the start, I could tell you were really sweet and caring, especially towards your brother. I think that's really endearing.'
Yeosang felt his heart soar, just listening to his words. 'Jong-ah, I don't know why you're bringing up age. When you say things like that, anyone would think I'm the young one.'
