Retro's POV
Gold and I had to get our new arrows from the warehouse. "I hate having to do this." I groaned. "Retro. Stop complaining. You're making me regret making you the leader of your team." Gold spat. "I'm what makes you regret that? I'd think it'd be my dad." I admitted. She groaned to herself. "Orange is no picnic either." She huffed. "You know, I always wondered why you didn't pick your own son to be the leader." I admitted. She looked over at me. "Sean is great, but he told me himself that he didn't want it. So we decided to pick the kid with the best leading instinct, and that was you. Besides, I prefer having a woman in charge anyway." She smirked. I smiled back at her. "Thanks. You sure it didn't have anything to do with my mom being a goddess?" I huffed. Gold rolled her eyes. "Astro isn't even a goddess anymore, and you're just a super-human, so give it up." She spat. I laughed. "Why would I do that? Annoying you brings me joy." I smiled. Gold took a deep breath and looked away. "I'm back to hating you. Let's just get the shipment." She said. I laughed and followed her.
When we got back to HQ, Red helped Gold with their team's arrows. Cyan's daughter came down to help me. "Hey Retro. Need a hand?" She smiled. "You ask that every time like I didn't call you ten minutes ago." I raised an eyebrow. "You also told me this morning when you were getting ready to leave." She added. I rolled my eyes. "Because I woke you up? You know, you could stop rooming with me. Your siblings aren't even Arrows. We have other rooms." I said. "Yeah, but where's the fun in that?" She smirked. I laughed. "Ok Ella. Grab a box. Let's go." I said.
Our live room is on the floor above our parents. "They're back! Guys, the arrows are here!" Dylan yelled. She ran over to help with the boxes. "Thanks Silver." I smiled. "No problem. Does that sound right? I still haven't decided between Silver or Pink." She admitted. "Either way is good for me, Dyl." I shrugged. Addison walked over and grabbed a box too. "Jeez! I swear these get heavier every time." She complained. "So I guess we need to do some muscle training, Red?" I asked. She sighed. "I don't know, Orange. I never seem to get any stronger." Addison replied. "I can help you, Addy." Dylan offered. Red smiled at her. "If you want. Thanks Dylan." She said. The two of them walked over to their rooms. "Boys! Come get your arrows!" I shouted. Connor walked over. "I was right there, man. No need to yell." He groaned. "It was mostly for the other two. I trust you, Blue." I handed him a bundle of arrows. "Thanks, Orange." He walked away. I turned to Ella beside me. "Where are Max and Sean?" I asked. She shrugged. "Gold! Lime! Come on!" She yelled. Sean ran out of his room. "I was in the bathroom! Stop yelling!" He huffed. "Whatever Goldy. Take your shit." I gave him his arrows. "Connor! Where's Max?" Ella asked. "I just texted him. He says he's with his mom downstairs. Just leave it outside his door." He said. "What's he need with his mom?" I asked. Connor shrugged and texted Max again. Then he huffed a laugh. "Oh shit! You're gonna need more arrows!" He chuckled. "Why? What happened?" I asked. "Bailey is back." He smiled. "What?! Seriously?" I shrieked. "Yeah. She's gonna start sophomore year with us." He nodded.
Just then, the door opened and Bailey ran over to Ella. "Cyan! There's my girl!" She hugged her. "Yellow! You're back!" Ella hugged her. Max slugged in behind her, dragging in her suitcase. "I didn't expect you back for a while." I admitted. Bailey smiled over at me. "What can I say? I missed you guys. Besides, I was so bored in New York. It's too loud and crowded." She groaned. "And you thought this was better?" Ella asked, sarcastically. Before Bailey could answer, Max fell over. "Hey! I'm your brother! Not your servant! Get your heavy ass bag!" He groaned. She rolled her eyes and looked back at me. "Anyways, I would like to rejoin The Arrows, if you'll have me?" She asked. I smiled. "Of course. Once an Arrow, always an Arrow. I just have to order your Yellow arrows and your costume. Text me your size?" I asked. Bailey nodded. "I will." She agreed. "Hey Sean!" I yelled. He came back from his room. "What now?" He asked. "I need you to bring Bailey up to speed with training. You cool with that?" I asked. Sean looked over at Bailey and his eyes widened slightly. "You look different." He noted. "Thanks? So do you." She laughed. "Uh... yeah! Yeah I can help." He agreed. "Great. Thank you." I said. "I'll help you get unpacked. I'm sure your old room is dusty." Ella and Bailey walked away together.
Sean's POV
Bailey shot an arrow at the practice target. It landed on the rim. "Wow! I really have lost touch." She groaned. "It's not bad. You'll be back in no time." I shrugged. She giggled a little and I raised an eyebrow. "Something funny?" I asked. "Sorry! I just really thought your voice would drop when puberty started. You kinda sound like a girl." She admitted. My eyes widened. "Um... that's not why-" she cut me off. "And I mean, the man bun isn't really helping you. And the crop top. Wow! I've never seen a guy wear one before." She laughed. I just blinked at her. "You done?" I asked. She took a deep breath. "Yes. Sorry. I'm just saying, even your body structure makes you look like a woman." She explained. I nodded. "Well, it's actually because of my prescriptions." I explained. "What do you need drugs for? And what drug makes you sound and look like a woman?" She asked. I rolled my eyes. "None of your business. It's just something I need, ok?" I said. Bailey raised an eyebrow. "You really aren't gonna tell me?" She asked. "I haven't told anyone. The rest of the team respects my boundaries. And are you really gonna stand there and lie about why you're home?" I asked. Her eyebrows shot up and she looked away. "I don't know what you're talking about." She shook her head. "You loved New York, Bailey. We all saw your socials. You were having a great time at that know-it-all academy. So what really happened? Why are you home now?" I asked. She gripped her bow and took a deep breath. "Drop it, Gold." She spat. "Only if you do the same." I snarled. Bailey glared over at me. "Deal." She pulled back another arrow and hit the target dead-on. "Look who's back." I smirked. She huffed a laugh and tried again.
"Mom? I'm ready for my shot!" I walked into her room. Zill looked up from her phone and smiled. "Hey! Ok. Come sit." She patted the bed and stood up. I sat down on the edge of her bed and rolled up my sleeve. "Have you chosen a name yet?" Zill asked. "I'm workshopping it. I like Skyler, but that's still a guy's name." I huffed. "It doesn't have to be. I've met women named Aiden." She laughed. "Where's mom?" I asked. "Gold is talking to Lime about Bailey being back." She replied. I rolled my eyes. "I saw that. What happened with Bailey?" She asked. "She's prying into my life and asking a lot of questions." I huffed. "I really don't understand why you don't tell them what you're doing. No one's gonna hate you for it." She said. "It's just scary, mom. Besides, I haven't even figured out a name yet. I would like to at least have that figured out." I said. Zill walked over with a needle and gently injected my shoulder. I hissed for a moment and held my breath. "I get that, but it was hard enough to hide the gender spell from them, and the voice spell, and your hair is getting longer everyday! At some point, they're gonna figure it out." She said. I sighed. "I know." I looked down. Zill put a band-aid over the shot. "Hey, no matter how you choose to tell them, your mom and I are completely behind you." She assured me. I smiled and glanced up at her. "Thanks mom." I said. "No problem. Now go on. I'm sure Retro will have you guys do something for Bailey's return." She patted my shoulder. "Probably. I just hope that if we go out for dinner, that it's not the buffet again. I still get nightmares about that food poisoning." I shuddered. Zill laughed. "You'll be fine. Now get out of here." She pointed to the door. "Thanks mom." I smiled and left.
